    Howdy fellas,

Seems as if I've left my wood hoard in NY and my log-hoggin' days are on hold indefinitely. :(:wacky:

So looking at our beautiful new house in South Carolina, I was admiring the ease with which the two gas Heatilator fireplaces ignite and display their convincing fire but the heat delivery is unimpressive at best.

I gots to thinkin' (natty gas ain't the only thing burning around here tonight apparently) a pellet insert might be a good way for me to scratch the wood fire itch. Figured I'd share a beer (blue moon longneck tonight) with the pellet boys tonight and see if y'all knew of any good pellet inserts!

P.S. please share any details about converting nat. Gas venting to appropriate for tree turds! :p

Welcome to the dark side :D

Are there any stove shops near you? Also, you probably should start looking to see if you have access to pellets too. You'll need to swap the piping for pellet vent. Can you post some pics of what you currently have and the vent too. We love spending other people's money!

Had a quadrafire Santa Fe. Depending on how many sq ft your trying to heat, it would keep the house somewhat warm. Pulled it and put in a wood insert. Pellets aren't as cheap as they used to be.

Good idea! A pellet stove will take the chill off, reduce the humidity in the house a bit, and though not real wood flames, still mesmerizing to look at. Go For It!

Oh boy, do we ever! :emptywallet::emptywallet:

And, on the vein, of course you need a Harman insert!

Oh yeah, and the natural exhaust/vent will almost assuredly need to be converted to pellet venting pipe. And don't forget the OAK!

    PS - I have vodka :D

I will cast my vote for an Enviro M55 Cast Insert...I am a little prejudice though!

    Plenty of beer too!

For your heating needs you will find plenty of options that would fit the bill.

I'd put a freestanding stove in front of the opening. Much easier to tinker on IMHO. Plus I do believe they are a smidge cheaper.

Here's a lousy phone pic of the downstairs gas burner.
