The N.H. governor chartered our town as Flamstead. The charter lapsed, and then became New Flamstead. Then N.Y. got involved and renamed it to its present name. Mount Flamstead is on our property, towering :)600ft above the house, and we call our place Mt Flamstead Farm. I tweaked it a little to Flamestead while on a less friendly site, and kept it when I moved here. The avatar oxen were my grandmother’s.
