Worked on dirt bike trail today. Had an off last Thursday. Pretty good one for no faster than I was going. Went back and mellowed out the spot a little today. Lost rear wheel down the slope and couldn't hold the bike. Flopped to the down hill side and smooshed my left radiator pretty good. It was much narrower with a little ledge before, this is during the fix.

    Screenshot_20230514-172026.png

Dug out some flat rocks and other small junk on different parts of trail trying to make nicer.

After an hour and half I got the weedeater out which doesn't make much for pictures. Although while doing a fence, I found this baby bird doing his best to stay super still until the danger passed.

Some of you might find this neat. Pictures aren't great, but snuck onto a job site after work Friday to be nosy. River locks had a major slip issue and there has been ongoing work to correct. Just leisure craft these days, no commercial traffic. Appears they have used one side to push the other. Disclaimer....I'm not an engineer. LOL. I have helped tend these locks when a friend used to have the job. Double chamber with sluce gates.

    Just something I find intriguing.

Crap day Saturday. Rained steady until about 2:30. Decided to call a lid on working in the woods and washed the dirtbike instead.

Yesterday I wanted to finish up some splitting and do some stacking. Worked on a few rounds and then busted some uglies that have been laying around.

Y'all might get a kick out of this. Some of my coworkers being creative in finding a way to trim the canal bank behind our building. lol

So I was minding my own business shopping for a carburetor on Amazon last night and I happen to notice an item that has been just hanging out in my cart was discounted 19%. I told myself 'no more 50cc saws, you got plenty'. Yeah I broke that. This one probably will stay in the box for a while. The Echo 501 is doing just fine. I just couldn't pass this up.

Weather just as nice as you could ask for.

Consolidated and 'stacked' more A-hole pieces. Nearly a cord there now.

Raked and graded my woodyard. The laves hold moisture so they needed to go.

Was fairly worn out yesterday. Hit it pretty hard previous three days. Decided to wash buggy after doing some more maintenance on the main trails yesterday. It looked haggard with a whole winters worth of dirt on it. Drove over to the local spray bays. It was impulsive so I didn't have any scrubbing tools or cleaning agents, just water. Looking better.

While taking a leisure ride around the property, already in lounging mode in shorts I run into this stupid pair of Aspens. Quick work with the 501 Echo and I was back to cruising.

    Screenshot_20230530-094547.png

Almost all trails have been groomed now. The one above obviously still needs attention. It's a wet one and have been waiting for it to dry up.

Sharpened 4 chains yesterday for my 50cc saws. I continue to have issues with the Husqvarna Xcut chains. Been using Pferd files for more than a decade and they've always been excellent. For whatever reason, they do not want to cut on the X chains. I even tried a brand new out of box file and got the same results. It just won't let the file cut smoothly. Super snaggy and grabby. I tried differing angles of attack and even tried taking extra gullet out. Decidely still not a fan. I have a 3/8 X chain that need sharpened also...will see if it gives me the same problem. I have only run into this on rare occasion with Oregon products. Overhardened cutter links or something? Fairly frustrating.

Thank You. Always trying to make it better/nicer. That 'little' chunk of forest means a whole lot to me.

I didn't mention...I snapped a file trying to sharpen one. Yep, that snaggy. Likely operator error, but I have no idea why those chains would be different from any others as far as sharpening goes. I managed 3 oregons same file with no issues.

I'd prolly hurt myself with those. lol

I have always low key wanted to get a chain from The Chainsaw Guy after he works it over on his Silvey machine. Unknown if a 'west coast' grind would work well for me or not.

Ive had chains with extra hard teeth. So much so i bought a diamond file for when i encounter it. Usually just the leading edge. Few strokes and a normal file works fine after.

I'm big enough to admit it. lol I'm a big dummy!

So I *have an 18 volt makita 10" chainsaw that I keep in the buggy for quick chops and whatnot. Went to get it out of the bed over weekend....not there. Just the scabbard and batteries. "Oh ok, I know where I left it..." Nope. "Maybe that other spot..." Nope. Spent almost two hours rummaging around in the woods at various places I *thought I had used it. Had to admit stupidity.

Thinking on it a bit I figured out how to make it reappear. I bought another one. LMAO It's become a staple in my toolbag and I have I think 7 batteries for it that fit nothing else I own. Looking forwards to finding it in the last place I'd expect to sometime in the future. It may be under a pile of brush or worse yet, under a pile of leaves and sticks that I shoved with the tractor.

Hi, I'm RCBS and this is *one of my Big Dummy moments.

I don't burn the piles in the woods. Yep, seems like an odd problem to have. What can I say? I'm a busy and mobile fellow. I may use that saw 15-20 times in one day, for a few seconds at a time at different spots. I know I jumped out and cut something, set it down to manage whatever I was doing then just hopped back in the buggy and took off. Literally dozens of possible locations. It may be found, it may not be. I'm ok with it either way. The old one paid for itself just killing vines.

I must be working too hard. lol
