    Gorgeous day yesterday.
    Screenshot_20250525-100101.png

Finally got around to making my bagging aid.

    Screenshot_20250525-100115.png

Went to make some bags, but forgot I left stuff in my own way. Some chuglies and shorties needed moved.

Put them on the Jenga pile with the others.

    Shorties left

    Now to try it out.

    Screenshot_20250525-100220.png

Helps a bunch. Be better on a stand, but I'm not moving volume.

Bought some bags that were smaller than I thought to market the shorties to the Solo burner crowd.

    Screenshot_20250525-100231.png

    Can't fit much in them.

Finished up playing with that and headed to get tractor to kill a catalpa tree.

It was on the hill behind the cabin and would eventually threaten it. Top got blown out a few years ago. Just a scraggly piece of crap.

    Screenshot_20250525-100254.png

Used a plunge back cut with rear trigger due to heavy lean. Went over nicely.

I let the old echo eat most of it. Will have a nice brush pile to burn in a few weeks.

    Work gang.

What will become of the catalpa? SS wood? Mix with bundle wood? Mill fodder?

Ive thought of using the bags for nuggets or for rounds cut shorter. My current apple that I'm processing was cut shorter (not by me) and its on the gnarlier side so boxes or bundles aren't ideal. I have several cat litter boxes put aside for the nicer short splits. It's just brush to me. I will happily spend 2-3 hours burning it down hopefully in 3-4 weeks. Had initially thought to offer to a neighbor but after finding the entire trunk hollow it became something to erase. I have a sizeable red maple down right now for shoulder wood. Honestly that's about as far down the BTU scale that I will venture...Red maple. Not a brag, just how it is with what I have available. The other stuff just doesn't seem worth the effort.

I ordered a bundle of new 'small bags' to see if they are a better fit for the smallies. I don't even know if anyone down this way will buy them, but I'm gonna offer at least for the summer. The shorties/minis are all white oak. Got enough for probably 25 bags or so? I don't think I'm going to put out the ones shown above. 5 little pieces are all that will fit. My plan is to sell a slightly smaller bag of small splits for the same money as the regulars due to added time on splitter/handling, again only premium hardwoods.

Nooooooooo! My favorite work shoes soles are seperating again. I've already glued them back once. Been wearing these in the woods since like 2017 (3 pairs). Had a pair of the new version stashed in the basement waiting for this day. Stinks when your favorite footwear becomes no longer available.

Did some testing for some rock work forthcoming. Gonna split some down into pavers.

Went to retrieve the water hole camera that's been out for a year. It was still taking pics when warm enough meaning it overwrote the late summer pics during drought I had hoped to see. None the less saw pics of deer, turkey, coon, opossum, fox, squirrel, bobcat and coyote. I'm going to set it up better this year and maintain it a little.

On the way, I nearly ran over this guy with the buggy. I had to back up from where I got stopped to see him. Never moved other than ears while I gently drove around him.

Then on the way out I swerved to miss this little one on the trail.

There was one of a coon taking a swim in first pic. You can make out his eyeball....kinda.

I did manage to get three more trailers of junk cleaned up along the road yesterday. That project will progress during summer...hopefully...I may have to do some roofing soon on the cabin. :picard:

I hate when they discontinue stuff. I can relate on the footwear. Certain style of work book I buy at Walmart. Last year I couldn't find them in any size (I take 12) and bought a similar type only taller. For chits and giggles I checked online and they still had them so I ordered a pair. I wear them out so bad the soles are smooth and usually a hole by the toe. The "OEM" laces usually break pretty fast too.

Good luck with the bagged wood sales and let us know how it goes.

The struggle is real. It's why I buy multiples of clothing items that I like when I find them. By the time I'm ready for more they are gone with the wind. I'm not a stylish person, I like what works for me and is comfortable and hopefully affordable. If you see a visible logo on any of my clothing, it has 'approval' to be shown. Logos on my hats are 'endorsed' brands. (I do have junk sweat hats that I don't care who's name is on, but nobody sees me in them anyways)

    Im the same way.

Work pants are another one. I found a style of Dickies work pants I REALLY liked. "Comfort waist" with an elastic expanding waist band that flexes when I squat, bend etc. Couldn't find them at Walmart for ages. Finally ordered direct from mfr and later found out they are discontinued! :hair: And good luck finding my size which is fairly common. I hunted several down on eBay and have a little stockpile of them. Coler didn't matter either. Some are EMT pants with extra pockets.

If it's these ones, I also like them. Who knew that carpenter pants would morph into smart phone pocket pants?
