I put this link there for you because you mentioned here that you were thinking about buying a 543. I have one and the RedMax version as well as the 241 stihl to compare.

Yes, thank you! I thought that I had replied to the thread you linked but apparently did not. That’s why I was asking if a moderator could “relocate” it appropriately..

I don’t care WHO owns it.

the labor is in China. End of story.

They off-shored it, just like how many American copies have done, and sent the production to Asia.

They also have production plants in the USA, Japan and Philippines. We live in a global market. I'm not saying I like it, but its how it is.

My point was, which seems to have been missed here is this, in a comparison of pretty much most Chinese counterfeit items vs the real item being produced by the real company in China or not, the counterfeit items quality is sub par. Thats the point. This thread is based on that premise. Stihl vs China .....fake stihl saw vs a real Stihl saw. End of story.

Steve, could that Husqvarna be considered Stihl vs. Japan? Is that Redmax a Husky at all? I'm just curious (and clueless) here, not trying to stir the pot.

Agree'd on that statement. It's well know that it's not all equally crap or good.

chineez factories are the same as any other, they build to the customers specs (or cost point) and can make good stuff, if that's the job...look at all high quality electronics that come from there...

Last I knew, Redmax used Zenoah engines which is (was?) a subsidiary of Komatsu and made in Japan. Subject to change of course.

Yep... they'll make it as good or poorly as they get paid to. With of course their own government restrictions of what tech they allow out.

And it’s made to the same price point any other labor market will be hired to do it to.

our labor market also has major constraints to it that other locations don’t have. Namely OSHA and EPA regulations. Which is what sends them overseas in the first place. At least it was for our company. Our labor went to Indonesia. Photoetching has some pretty harsh regs state side to maintain.

Is any Husqvarna with the Zenoah strato technology a real Husqvarna? Or any saw that adopted Zenoah technology? Splitting hairs here. Lol

RedMax is Zenoah. Zenoah is the company name in Japan and I assume elsewhere and it's RedMax in the US.

It's definitely not a real Husqvarna but it's also not a Chinese counterfeit of another saw either. :D

Exactly. China can and does produce products as good as Germany, the USA ect. In my personal experience, counterfeit saws and other ope are not in this category.

I get it. I considered getting a clone if I ever started milling for a hobby. I also considered buying a 4 pack of assemble yourself saws kits to port each one differently to learn on but after having ran and worked on some of them now, I'll buy a used saw from a real manufacturer, fix it up and use it before buying a counterfeit.

I definitely get that. I've worked for places that outsourced entire production lines to China.

You can look up RedMax "about us" and it gives the entire timeline from 1918 till somewhere in the 2000's after Husqvarna acquired them.
