Thanks! I just found it on FB MP (made a post about it here I think) and didn't even bother negotiating. I paid the asking price of $100 and was super happy to do it. This thing is a classic and was made back in olden times and I'm just so happy to have found it.
Same as him. I google the ipl and confirm it with the dealer. Even if the current part numbers are different, he’ll order the newer one that supersedes it. Make sure you clean the carbon out of the exhaust port. It’s starting to scrape up the piston on the clutch side. It won’t run like an 034 Super with a port the size of an 025. And use a different oil than the other guy
What other guy?? And what oil are we talking about? I've been using the Stihl Motomix but I got a bunch of 50:1 VP fuel on sale....I don't like the smell of the VP fuel but I like the price better. Carb cleaner ok to spray all around there?
Same as BuckthornBonnie, we look it up in the ipl. Just a general statement. With that amount of carbon buildup, I wouldn’t want to run the same oil as the previous owner was, to try and prevent that kind of buildup from happening again. No idea what he used, probably something from the local gas station The carbon will have to be chipped, scraped, or sanded out. It won’t dissolve readily with any carb cleaner I’ve ever tried
I have a lot of brake cleaner. I couldn't find 3 cases of it because my garage was so disorganized....and then ordered 3 more....so now this is what I got.
There's no such thing as too much brake cleaner!!! And there's already a big ol' hole in my wallet from double buying. But I'll use it for sure.
I go through brake cleaner like crazy myself. I totally abhor seeing people disassemble dirty machinery. I bought a pressurized paint tank from Craigslist and filled it with solvent, dunk and swish. If it's bigger i steam it.
I can't stand it when I see repair videos and they REASSEMBLE it without cleaning it!!! That drives me nuts. I'm always like "How's about a little wipey-wipe there buddy?"
