T.Jeff Veal My original attempt with this 7 years ago, I used bolts to keep it together. The nuts kept getting loose. I eventually got it welded and it works like a champ. These are some pics of the first iteration of it.

 

That is where I got the idea from. I just couldn't find the thread...lol...
It doesn't take long to unbolt it.

T.Jeff Veal I couldn't find the thread either. I am happy someone else finds my invention handy. I find it makes having a hatchet close by not needed. It allows to cut completely thru the round. I use it for all of my splitting. I have had red oak be stringy.
Let us know how it works for you when you get a cord or two thru it.

That's been on it about 40ish years. It was made with just a electric hand drill and a hacksaw. It took a while.

 

I have an oak 4x4 that when it hangs up I pull the wedge and attached wood with it back, insert 4x4 between wood and end and push through. Have been known to use a square split in a pinch. But I do like your mod!
