Nice looking scene and wood Bert! Cant hook at the ready! I just picked up a second cant hook in great shape a few days ago for $20. For that much I couldn't pass it up. As I get older I need every advantage I can get I guess!

Eatonville is a good town! Far enough out and small enough to be friendly and woodsy but close enough to civilization to enjoy the advantages that larger cities can have! Elk and cougars in the back yard but within an hours drive of a world class dinner theater! I could live there but not with this wife...I mean not in this life!

Can’t say how many time I’ve buried my knees in the ground trying roll something over to keep the chain out of the dirt.
I was able to grab this one by chance at a Blue Collar Antique shop just minutes down the road only days after I started to look for one.
The handle it came with was broken off inches above the receiver and the point was gone. I gave the guy $20,

I couldn’t find a handle local so turned to the google. The original company is still in business and had a handle and point kit.

They also have brand new units.

This hook and sheath dates in the 1930’s as far as I can tell.

    I love it.

Somewhere on here I have a thread on the rebuild.

Very nice old tool. You don't often hear them called 'Cant Dogs'.

Even the catalogue they sent was pretty cool, IMO.
    Hangs over my bench.

canthook2.jpg Ran into a second cant hook/log jack at a garage sale. Only $20 so I bought it. Figured that as scarce as they seem to be around here I could always get my money back! Looks to be in pretty good shape! With all the big Fir trees we have been cutting lately, it would also come in handy for two man rolls!
