I sent them a check for 3 tons in late September and was told a truck load was on the way and they would fill my order as soon as it arrived. Then the truck was late, so my delivery was pushed off again. Then in late October I was told that they were making "emergency" one ton deliveries to everyone to hold them over and I would see my other 2 tons in 2 weeks. The 2 weeks came and went and on 11/5 I was told they were still making "emergency" deliveries and my 2 tons would be delivered in a week to 10 days. So on Friday the 13th, I e-mailed them and asked if I was still slated for my 2 tons to be delivered next week and received an e-mail back indicating that I had to wait until all the "emergency" deliveries had been made. So I wrote back and told them that I was pizzed and felt I had waited long enough and if they could not give me a firm delivery date, I planned on filing a formal complaint with the Connecticut AG. To which they responded that the owner felt threatened by my e-mail and was cancelling the balance of my order (2 tons) and they would issue me a refund. So now I can see them issuing me a credit for 2 tons but not my 60.00 delivery charge which was supposed to have been for 3 tons and not 1. I also hope I really see my 2 ton refund, but I assure everyone I will file a complaint with the AG if I don't see my money in a week. Ohhh and I left out one thing, in their e-mail they said they were making "emergency" deliveries to people who had ordered and paid for pellets in January of 2015, so here they are accepting "NEW" orders and taking the "CASH" when they have not by their own admission delivered to the people that had ordered pellets in January UPDATE: see updated post here.
This is sounding an awful lot like another company several years ago. I THINK it was in Massachusetts?
New England something or other. I thought that was in CT? Could da been MA. I think Geek will remember them. People had to go through hoops to get their nickel's back!! Had one in New York not that long ago. They were at least trying to get the goods out until the co owner was killed adding new equipment. Osha shut em down and then it got really ugly for the folks that had money on the books. Cash and carry seems the only safe bet for these new start up pellet companies. Whether its a mill or retail sales. No way in heck would they get more than a small deposit to lock a price in.
Yep, but I cannot remember their name any longer.... (getting old??) Thank God I got my 3 tons delivered right before the hammer came down and they got sued and all that. NOTE: (on the side), email notification doesn't seem to be working all the time, will report in the proper forum category.
Sorry to hear about your circumstance ctpilot2015 and welcome to the board. It's unfortunate what decent people, who try to support a local business have to go through. A business should not take orders if they can't fulfill them. And when product is available, it should be made available to fulfill orders that were already purchased, not new orders. That is just wrong. They will never catch up and it will be spring time before all orders are delivered. At this time, I don't see how they will have any repeat customers next year if they survive. Can you describe how your pellets were delivered?
I love how the company feels "threatened" when you ask for something that was PAID FOR months ago and they can't fulfill their end of things. BTW, what brand pellet did they deliver?
No, this was way back in like 2006 or 07. Pretty sure it was similar to NEWP's name. Something like New England pellet LLC. I remember NEWP fielding flack from the other New Englands misfortunes/troubles. But they weren't related in the least bit. There's still a link at the CT.org site with details. Attorney General: Attorney General Sues Wood Pellet Company For Failing To Deliver Tons Of Pre-Paid Wood Pellets
The other one was Allegany Pellets. Which got sued by people they didn't supply pellets to after they also took prebuy money!! This was back in 2010. Guy Who Claims He Owns 84% Of Facebook Was Sued Last Year For Failing To Deliver Wood Pellets Like I said we've seen this stuff before and its never pretty. Glad they stepped up and sent the moneys back and no one got burned "pun intended".
Oh yeah, didn't you send them an e-mail or something and they felt threatened or didn't like the tone of it or something like that? Did you get your money back?
Yes I got my money back, they cancelled cause my name was on this site, and they didn't want to do business with people who were commenting about them, but they neglected to see that I never commented negatively about them. I'd be curious to know, how many orders they have canceled and under what circumstances. Also, of the orders canceled, what was the per ton price the customer locked in at, prepaid.
Sounded like a cop out to me! If they can't stand the heat. Don't go near the fire. If they didn't want bad publicity, They shoulda made good with their original bargain. Otherwise suck it up and deal with it. I just hope they make good with all the people that had money invested in supplies.
