Wrong. Gonna have nothing but problems there.
Chimney liner Depot was where I bought mine...they recommended doing what I did...and modded the tee (for free) to be able to put the "leg" of flex liner on the bottom of it...and it works really well!

You can use whatever to patch the insulation together. You don't need 1 continuous piece. Make a flue plate from aluminum or sheet metal and seal oof with rockwool to the stove and inside.

The section of Flex Liner will slide onto the Tee Connector, but the Tee Cap will not slide over the outside of the liner, and is the same size as the liner ID, so you can Crimp the tee cap and then it can slide into the liner. Not having the tee cap on will work, but it does allow cooler air to draft up the flue, cooling the gases, slowing the draft and maybe more creosote. A lot of people do it that way, just not the best option.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I will go with the "leg" on the bottom of the tee as brenndatomu has suggested. I figure I only intend to do this once barring some sort of disaster. I may as well do it right.

Quick question....what is the length of the tee body?

The overall length of a 6" Tee Body is 12 1/2"

    Thanks double-d!

Just placed my order! Now it's a waiting game. In the meantime I am gonna try to find some time to knock out the clay liner and get the chimney ready for the install.

Thanks everyone for all of the advice and help!

How are you planing to remove your clay tiles? I Rented some from Rockford before, and they worked pretty good, they paid for shipping both ways. Made it kinda convenient

I went to a local welding shop that I used to work at and had them make a tool. I'm gonna try that first.

Is it one that rotates around? or a rod that you chisel them out with?

I had posted this a while back, and think it looks awesome. I looked and saw installers in NY, don't know how far away from you they are or if there are any folks in PA doing it. I wish I had someone in VA to do mine...

Try going to this website csia.org, then put in your 5 digit ZIP CODE number. A list of certified chimney sweeps will come up within a 50 mile radius f your zip code. Don't know anything about them, some are probably better than others, I would call a couple of them and check them out, and see what they would charge to do it.

It's basically a square piece of 3/8 inch steel with a bolt welded onto it. The bolt screws on to chimney brush rods. I used it tonight some. It works pretty good other than I had 2 rods break because of bend them a bit to get in to the top of the chimney (I bought 6 foot rods). I then made a tool to fit the rods to a drill.

Thanks for the welcome, I've been a sweep for a number of years, always enjoyed problem solving, and working with my hands. Was an aircraft mechanic for 30 years.

While I was awaiting delivery of the liner by FedEx (which arrived around 130ish) the clay liner became driveway fill. Now it's back to the roof to get the new liner installed.
