    My first thought was Siberian Elm but upon closer inspection the bark doesn't look exactly right. It doesn't look right for BL to me either. What I believe it is, is Mulberry that has started to dry a little bit hence the darker color and not bright yellow thus throwing us all off.

    Well, I'm gonna start splitting on Saturday so we'll get a good look at it then. I'll find my tree ID book and peak through it. :) Either way, it's gonna be "Firewood" soon. :yes: We'll all figure it out, I'll call the tree guy and see what he say's, I wasn't home when he dumped it.

    I think the biggest question here is how did you ever find a tree company that could make straight and consistent length cuts?? That is impressive!

    I've known these guys for many years. There is generally a case of (Corona) ;) for them when they drop off the wood. When My buddy does tree jobs, he has to calculate in the tipping fees for the dump. If he drops it here, it's a win, win for him and his crew so he makes :emptywallet: a few extra bucks and his guys get a case of "Cerveza" !
    . Yes, she is a bit porky about 10 lbs over according to the Vet. She's "fixed" and turning 8 but that's no reason. She, and US need to exercise more and that's our fault as well. Being a Border Collie, she loves to run and we used to take her to a local soccer field to run a couple times a week. Never was an issue until someone ruined it for people and the town put a "NO DOGS ON FIELD", violators will be fined sign... :headbang: You can probably guess why.:mad: The last few weeks, it's been Bitter cold and Ice everywhere, :shiver: running wasn't in the picture.

    Another thing to think about, here where I live is, There isn't much public land, open to freely cut. Everbody owns something! I'm lucky because I'm a director of my gun club and if I really need to, I have about 65 acres I can get wood out of, and I do occasionally. I went to school with 2 guys that own tree businesses :D, and were on good terms :handshake: One of them had an arraingement with our club to dump his chippings on our clubs "Berms" and we pushed them up with our loader. Win, win! And.... I would get some wood out of the deal a couple times a year. :cool: I also get many "Blow overs", mostly Maples occasionally when we get Nor'Easters. Sandy fine soil doesn't do well with some of these shallow rooted trees.

    My tree buddy just confirmed that the majority of the wood, the bigger pieces are Black Locust, I texted him this morning, just got the return. The guy has been doing this 35+ years so I'm gonna take his word on it...

    Did you ever take her on a walk and wake up some time later on the ground, half in a tent, with a bright light randomly flashing about, and her licking your face? :whistle: ;) :D

    You're making quick progress! But wait a minute...you got the tractor tires DIRTY!!??

    My set of forks has a shackle attachment in the center. Something that you could probably fab up very quickly and it would give you a bit more control with the log tongs versus a strap. Just something to consider until you get your grapple.

    That wood is ash....:whistle::whistle:

    Well, in a few years it will be..
    :D:D:D

    Forks look good, I read the thread yesterday, didn't know you had gotten them. We drilled a hole close to the end of each fork on ours, big enough for a 3/4 shank ball to fit, works great for moving trailer or splitter. For picking up rounds with tongs, I would put a clevis on one fork with the tongs attached. You will be able to see better, have better control and most importantly, have that round farther from the tractor front end, in case something came loose and the purdy tractor got a :pain::pain:

    I got my tractor DIRTY today! :eek:o_O.... :rofl: :lol: A little bit... :yes:;) The Pups had fun, chewing on the bark and casing each other. The Pup finally stays in the yard, he doesn't run of leave. It's all split up!
