Yea those trucks were awsome. They made the power down LOW!! That was a granny gear 4 speed transmission too.
Funny, most people I hear say the opposite. They don't hear people use generation numbers older than 10th gen. I refer to all f-series and rams by Gen number, that's how I learned them. Gm trucks on the other hand I mostly know by platform name or nickname :/
I mean I don't go talking about the old ones in generations either. Or hear any F series referred to in generations.
I don't even think I could count them either. I could probably figure out most of the Chevrolet trucks back through about the 60s but not sure how many there are before that?.... 2 maybe?
I guess since that's how I first learned to tell them apart, it's second nature to me. Funny thing about Chevy and dodge is they've had multiple separate models replace others over the time the F-series has existed. The ram has only had 4 generations since 1981 (well I guess 5 now that the brand new 19s are coming out), the D-series before it, which admittedly I know very little about period. GM had the advance design from 1947-55, the task force briefly after that, then 4 generations of the C/K before the Silverado/Sierra. The F-series has of course existed since 1948, had 13 generations and then the super duty as a separate design evolving at different times since 1999. Admittedly I lose any knowledge worth talking about of GM and ford trucks before 1947/48. Don't get many trucks running as long as the f-series has. The suburban comes to mind at that point, been on the go since 1935....... I know they only have 11 generations in that time, but I don't know them all apart like I do the trucks.
Thanks. It's mine. The gray one is my dad's. Mine's at 113k and my dad's is somewhere around the same.

Thought I didn't recognize the name Ohio. Welcome. I just didn't click it to see if you were new. There a lot folks here from Ohio.
I was on Craigslist the other day and there was an ad for slab wood. As a new wood hoarder my curiosity got the best of me. When I arrived the seller was busy pulling felled trees off a hillside for a road slip project. After his wife found him he appeared riding a kubota tractor. He forked the bundles of slab wood into my trailer. I had told him I only wanted one bundle and had no additional cash on me. He was looking to clear his stack for more room to mill wood. 3 for the price of 1. My wife bought this dump bed last year and it is really convient for hauling hay, gravel, or wood. No unloading by hand for me. I dumped the bundles and will start sawing it up this week. I plan on supplementing my cord wood with the slab wood and burning the wood during shoulder season. It is mostly hardwoods with some pine. This was a great way to spend a Satuday morning with my dog. View attachment 169573 View attachment 169574
