So latest progress has been slow due to a lot of rocks! Got the next line of posts in and partially backfilled as we now have house guests. 5 posts are completely backfilled. Had to take a hammer drill to one large rock to make room for the post, but it’s done.

Good old Maine rock farm! Curious about the hammer drill setup, I’ve got some high spots of ledge in my woods road ditches I’d like to deal with. Drilling and using expanding grout is one idea but I’m not so sure how effective the drilling will be in the granite ledge.

it’s just a Dewalt 20v max hammer drill. I have a flat chisel point bit and and pointed bit that I used to chip away at the rock. Since is was just outside where the fence was going I didn’t want to remove it and find another VW bug sized rock.

Did the expanding grout route last year, it worked well, but took a solid 48 hours to see a crack. Drilled 1” holes every 8”-12” in a line and filled them with grout. The hammer drill kills batteries quickly, I have 6-5ah batteries, and 2-6ah batteries and it used them all. I had to order two 1” sds plus hammer drill bits for rock/concrete as the local Home Depot didn’t have them in stock at the time.

My family has a camp on Flagstaff lake and the road to camp often has rocks slide down the mountain in the winter and need to be moved in the spring. My parents have been using the expanding grout method for a long time but they use an electric hammer drill with a generator. They break up the rocks to handle them with a 50 hp Kubota tractor, I just don’t remember what model it is.

They should offer a loyal customer in good standing at least 100k in pre approved credit :makeitrain"

Have been busy the last couple days between fence work, and life stuff. Managed to get the third side of the fence posts installed. Got to see some of the Thunderbirds fly overhead on their way out of Maine from the air show last weekend. Also got the fourth side post holes augered, just need to install the posts.

Got the fence gate installed and then hooked up the bush hog to mow a few rows around the fence posts to make installing the fence easier. Ended up mowing the whole field. IMG_5114.jpeg IMG_5116.jpeg

So the wife wanted me to help weed an area to transplant raspberries this morning. I helped the best way I know how! She got out of the way and let me deal with it with the mini excavator. After lunch I rototilled 3-60’ rows for new transplanting beds with 8’ of isle between them. Didn’t get a finished picture as I was busy lugging off the weeds with the tractor. Had both tractors out and the mini excavator, what a busy day!
