Thx for all of the comments, folks... we just got back from a 2nd putt putt round a small pond here in town. Beautiful calm monin. My honey is really liking this a lot, and that's perfect. The boat needs that center hull... soon. If we were on a large lake, and a storm crept up on us, we wouldn't be able to skip back to shore quickly. Workin on it. That 50 yr old motor is running zactly like it did when I was in HS. Me... not so much... Pics, or it dint happen...
Stinny is that a super seahorse 33 in this? Those early 70s Johnson/evinrudes were tough motors. I still have a 72 Evinrude 50 on my duck boat. Had to replace the head gasket in around 95.
Stinny's next project on the drawing board. Always admired that the Stinnster constantly thinks "BIG"........
The 1969 motor has been with me for 50 years. I remember Dad and I trading in our old 3 hoss back then, for this powerhouse 6 hoss. Can't believe how well it runs. If the center hull does what I think it will, I bet this will slide along pretty well. The narrow Hobie hulls are impressive with how well they slice through the water. Obviously, I wasn't lookin for speed... my honey was really nervous on our old 12' alum boat. Wasn't stable enough for her. This rig is perfect.
Oooooooh... hmmmm... dunno Rotti... after this last project, don't think my honey would wanna sell the house to build that...
Nice Stinny ! I recall you mentioning over the last few years how nice it would be to get back on the water, You Made It Happen, Hooray!
No prob with building or re-building boats here. Just have to jump thru a few more hoops than just getting a reg for it. Had to permanently apply (Dremel tool) a serial number the IF&W dep assigned me, in 2 dif locations, then took pics of them on the framework and emailed to IF&W... then they issued their "OK" to our town office... and they then registered the boat. Took a week of flubbin' to get it all done...
My honey and I know we'll never get a chance to own a camp on a lake again... and maybe this is even better... dunno. When you own a camp, you go round and round your lake. Now, we have no choice but to get off our azzes and go see many Maine shorelines...
