    To the op if you are set on heating from an uninsulated basement go with a highly convective stove. Because with convective heat will loose a much lower percentage of your heat to those floors and walls.

    The OP has a already installed ductwork system which will be much more effective in distributing heat throughout the house. Not the best looking distribution system for sure, but better than overheating the basement in an attempt to heat the house.

    Yes and the op clearly said they wanted to get rid of the furnace and install a regular stove. Which cannot use the duct work.

    Yes possibly reconsidering. I see that but I am simply giving advice on the question posed here. And no I didn't follow the random link you provided with no explanation until you said what it was. If you had explained the link the first time it would have been helpful
