That's a nice matching fresh set . The big one on the right looks like it from the same buck but just a year older.
The only one of these with any chew marks was the heavy one in the top middle. It's fresh but a coyote had got to it before me.
I was pretty lucky with sheds last year. I was driving an old skid road on my place looking for sheds. I saw a huge bodied elk, no antlers, a couple hundred yards away. I walked up on him awhile later, and found his sheds right where he was standing. There was only one set of tracks coming/going. He had just dropped them. We have Roosevelt elk where we live.
Those are nice looking sheds. I'm trying to find one or two to put in my new porch. My problem is I am unable to walk but short distances. I'm going to put a inquire in for my son who goes out a lot. If anyone can find them, he can.
In order of when they were found from top left to bottom right A few pictures from yesterday #2 Spotted from the road (fresh) Close up #4 Spotted from the road (fresh) While walking #5 (fresh) #6 (fresh) #7 (last years)
#8 (fresh) #9 (couple of years old) #10 hanging in the brush in the center (last years) This was just a quick walk while working and what I spotted while walking. I didn't even get into the bush. I don't think there is a set in all these which means there are at least this many still out there
Found a nice matching set from last year in the same general area yesterday. They were only about 5' apart.
I took a drive through our protected work property today and seen several bucks still carrying their head gear, however they are starting to drop. Seen one buck with just one side and spotted these 2 nice sheds from the truck. I also found a younger dead buck. Not sure what took him down but possibly a trespassing poacher. We found a make shift blind of sticks not far away a few weeks ago. Wasn't much left but the head and hair.
Did you guys see this? About 12 crow miles from me. I know the area this guy found this pair. Bout 5 miles from the Illinois state line. Hunter may have found Wisconsin’s record-breaking buck
My neighbor knows the guy who found these locked antlers. He tells me the authorities who are going to measure and determine if the larger buck is indeed a “record” have demanded the antlers of the smaller buck will be sawed off from the bigger buck. This displeased his buddy but oh well. They will be mounted separately so the smaller buck will have some glue action going on which is not uncommon in the taxidermy industry,,
I found a shed a couple of years ago with my tractor tire... Things around the farm For all the time I’ve spent in the woods over the years I’ve seen very few.
