Likely so. 55/pallet delivery charge is kind of steep as well but still a great price at 215/delivered. Now if you can get there and pick up a ton at a time just like you might do from big box, then you are really getting a deal!!
That's my bet too. Suspect Lowes is still inundated with last year's GT inventory and can't accept as much from the mill this season, so the mill is overloaded and they have to move them using other means.
WOW, they must be swimming in pellets to ship 3 pallets on a 16 hour round trip. When you bought direct previously, how many did you buy and at what cost (product and shipping charges)?
[QUOTE="Triple A Arsenal, post: 549412, where are all the men on this site? View attachment 104291 [/QUOTE] im here, aint turned in my man card yet
Hey SKEETER McCLUSKEY , you would love the weather here, temp is dropping like a rock now that the suns is going down. Possible frost tonight and tomorrow is going to be even cooler Me, I prefer the 71 degrees that slvrblkk has.
Triple A, I'm a little dense here but it sounds like you bought 3 tons of Greene Team direct from the factory for $215/ton delivered. Is that correct?
That is correct. But the added "Platinum " to the bag And jacked the price from $199 a ton to $350 plus. Same product in a different bag
My opinion only! If any mill sold pellets to a 3 ton consumer within a decent radius, WAY cheaper than we Pay for them.... I would never buy another product of theirs ever... EVER! Dan
Most don't in order to not pizz of the dealers(Which sounds like you are). Us as end users would likely jump all over a deal that a mill would pass down. Its all about saving money for us. The reason most of us burn pellets was due to saving money over other sources. If a mill is selling direct to a customer for $160/ton? Gotta wonder what these dealers are actually paying! Hmmmmm..................
There's men on this site?? $160 fob is is a helluva a lot lower than any other Mills in this region. Easy Heat excluded. We carry 8 - 12 brands at any given time and our fob is nowhere near that. If Robbie emailed that price to you then ill take your word for it. I haven't dealt with GT in a few years, but they seemed like good folks. I haven't read this entire thread yet, but I'm surprised they were selling direct to consumer. We can't and won't compete with Mills that do that. I'm glad that worked out for you though. I still haven't figured out why lowes tries to fetch a premium for them, especially if fob is in the 160 ballpark. That "great deal" in my experience is surplus product that's been sitting out in the mud since last season that they need to move. Whatever you save on the front end as a dealer you'll lose on the backend by having to replace damaged product or customers taking their future business elsewhere. Lousy is on point when he speaks to a topic on here.
Yup. That's a short term business model. Undercut your retailer pricing. Drive them out of business. Lose your distribution in the process. End up with a mountain of product sitting in the mud. I don't fault the end user for taking advantage it.
