What is a good compressor tank pressure to mount tires using an impact wrench?

K,Have used torque sticks for years. There is nothing wrong with them. The failure is because most shops run much higher air pressure than what they are rated for,so the metal fatigues, then it is not accurate. Also,if you read/study/research any owners manual, and wheel manufacturer install instructions,it will tell you to re torque the wheel after so many miles/days,trips on the highway.Americans are lazy, they do not read.study, and do not want to get dirty, and, seem to think once something is installed,it is good for life. So,therefore, most tire shops, dealers, and repair shops, overtighten the wheels, because of the liability and suing factor. This was figured out back in the 1970's,not a new thing. This is why the newer aluminum wheels have a steel insert where the lug nut tightens the wheel to the drum/rotor.Still seems some people cannot accept responsibility for the product they own.I do not see this changing,as,we have turned into a lazy class of people.Sorry for pointing out truths.

Right where I want to be.
Local mechanic uses a torque wrench, but the guy he has helping him (also a "mechanic") doesn't seem to be able to follow a correct star pattern.
Whenever they're done doing any kind of work on my vehicle, I drive the mile home, let the Jeep cool down for a while, then go out and loosen each wheel with a breaker bar and retorque correctly.
Took the lease vehicle to the dealer for an oil change and rotation recently (too cold for me to do as usual). When I got home, I checked all the nuts and some were fairly loose, while others almost required an 800lb gorilla to loosen. I redid every wheel to 100 ft lbs......like the manual states.
I've had issues in the past with the vehicle shaking while driving after getting work done, then once all the wheels were done correctly, the shaking went away.
Kinda like firewood.......I don't like relying on anybody to do things the way I would, or the way they probably should be done.
It really doesn't take much extra time to use a torque wrench. Seriously.

If they don't check the torque they are asking for a lawsuit when a wheel comes off.

No, they're cheap. * Buy the Husky set, linked up above.

    * And verify torque value w/ a proper torque wrench after use / for your setup there.

Don't 'rely' on a torque stick, w/o verifying it.

OK so with all this discussion I could of rotated the tires on all my vehicles and re toqued them with a real torque wrench lol.
Impact guns are for getting thing apart the are all nasty.
My career is in aircraft, Never ever used an air tool or impact to loosen / tighten fasteners. You use hand tools so you can "feel" if something is not going right. JMO.
Why is everyone in such a rush to do things. Oh so we can spend more time here on FHC

    Good Deal!
I like your system so much, I upgraded to a 7.5 HP 2 stage Quincy. :)

Never mount tires with an impact. Use a torque wrench.

As for tank pressure, mine is 200 psi with a regulator set to whatever I want. Big tanks (60 and 120 gallon) 2 compressor heads (2cfm and a 17cfm). The small one kicks in at ~175 psi and tops it off to 200 psi. The big one only kicks in if it drops to 150 psi. I don't use a lot of air often, but it's there when I need it. A small compressor on a big tank works great. I built our deck with a palm nailer and the compressor only ran once in a while. No problems running 200' of hose either. I tried the palm nailer with a little portable unit and it didn't have the poop to run it.

NASCAR just announced the cars will have aluminum wheels instead of the steel wheels.
Therefore they know having the old 5 bolt steel lug nuts would be a REAL problem holding the wheels on securely!
Therefore they invented a large single bolt system specially designed to hold Aluminum wheels on securely due to the increased expansion & contraction properties of aluminum!
Now why didn’t any of the automakers think of this????

Single lug has been around for quite a while outside NASCAR no ground breaking news there.

I guess I don't understand what people have against using the good ole time tested (OEM approved, and accurate) torque wrench?!
