Update: I have burned my little HQ Issue wood stove in the woodshed all winter. I haven't burned the woodshed down yet and I've been warm and cozy. Mimi can't understand why it takes me so long to go out and get wood from the wood shed. Oh, and for the record, the Chief Inspector approved it. Chief
It's awesome....you would have to pry me out of that woodshed with a crowbar. Does it take long to bring it up to temp inside? Is there any wood inside the woodshed?
So you get to sit next to your tools and firewood in your own private woodshed with a wood stove and your dog and your recently retired... Awesome!
Ain't that the nuts!? I should be ashamed for even posting it where you poor slobs still working can see it, right? Well, keep at it. After you work for 45 years everyday and sometimes night, I hope for every one of you, the opportunity to get to slow down and just enjoy the days, like I have. That's my prayer for all of you today. Chief
It was kinda a shameful post.... us poor firewood slobs (and I say that with all due respect) sure like seeing what it could be like for us someday. If I lived closer, you might find me in your shed from time to time... what do they call us? Squatters?
You can have my wood and the wood shed, but not my Mimi or my dog. And you have to Stoke the stove And buy the beer when I come out to the wood shed to visit you and get warm.
I'll bring beer, bag of dog treats, matches and an armful of splits and no one would get us out of there.
I have outfitted my shed with the same stove, and it's working just ok. It heats great, but I get a lot of smoke inside the shed. What have you done to prevent smoke inside the building? I'm pretty new to wood stoves, but even after I get a nice fire going, there is always a pretty heavy smoke smell in the air. Did you use some sort of sealer on your pipe sections? What do you do to draw in combustion air? Thanks for your help!
Welcome to the club, yvanblo! Glad you found us. Sounds like you may need to add to your flue to get more draft and an Outside Air Kit (OAK) to let the stove breath easier. If your having problems, post up a new thread and help will be on the way
yvanblo. Welcome to the site, glad you joined us. I second Turbo's suggestion, needs more draft. By all means don't give up on it the members here will get it figured out with you. Good Luck.
X3, welcome yvanblo! nice to have you here! Lot's of assistance here but it seems you need more flue as well! Think of flow.. , make sure you have very little restriction and clean is the big key! Are you burning "seasoned" wood where your getting good heat vs. smoke? Get your stove temps up to at least 300 degrees. Also, some pics would help so we can see what you have.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I'll start a new post and leave a link here. I'll provide some pictures and dimensions.
H I don't have any problem. Mine draws great, unless the holes at the top of the chimney get plugged and that only happened when I burned construction cut offs. I wish they would have made the top of the stove pipe removable but it's not. It also only comes with five sections and it could use a couple more. I tried to buy a couple more sections but couldn't. I also raised the stove up on concrete blocks so that got my chimney a little higher. Problem is that this is a tent camp stove. It doesn't use conventional stove pipe or chimney. So although you probably need to raise your chimney as I said you can't seem to buy more pipe without buying The entire stove kit. I considered that until I found out that mine was going to draw just fine Chief
I appreciate the feedback, chief. I have created a new thread, so I'm not hijacking your thread. Here is the link: Shed wood stove
