I get internet via satellite, we have brushed off the snow many times during the recent snow storm. Today though wind is blowing ground snow all over its still sunny.

I struggled 1/2 the day to load one or two pages. Hubby knocked off an icicle that had started to melt and refroze on the dish.

    Back in action!

Nice!!! Gotta love when it's something simple.

Being the dummy I am, I planted a very tall Grass kinda in front of/beside my dish. So come fall, it needs trimmed, or we lose signal every time the wind blows. LOL..

    Glad it's all straightened out.

Yeah, according to the cable tv commercials, everything affects satellite signal!

And they have the nerve to charge more for satellite!
I understand, though. I have broadcast tv with a roof-mounted antenna, and the wind can wreak havoc with the signal sometimes, as well as snow. I have had to move the antenna with the rotor to knock off the snow. And as I live on a busy road, sometimes just trucks driving by can cause pixelation. But the PRICE is right...

We lost signal (DirectTv) a few weeks ago during a bit of snow, and my wife made a call to them to get it fixed.
I however, because I've done it before, went outside and knocked the snow off the dish. When I came back in, she told me it was working.
    I said, yep, I know.
I doubt she'll go out to remove snow, so now I have yet another job to add to my list.:hair:

i wonder ( may be not the best thing to just try)

if some of that electrical wire that folks use to keep pipes from freezing could be applied to the back of the dish to keep it from freezing

possible the signal could be affected though
