Something to ponder...why do psychics continue to work for a living...you'd think they'd be living off their lottery winnings, or stock market windfalls...
With the rain we got yesterday, the snow left on the driveway turned into a very soft slushy mess. Sure glad I plowed what snow I did the day before. I see quite a few driveways in the area that didn't plow the snow before the rain and man oh man are their driveways a mess!
I didn't plow mine and now it is all gone. We surprisingly were blessed with a day in the 60's. Snow is no match for that.
The last two snows, a 4-6" and a couple more inches just the other day, was all melted by rain and warm temperatures. Now all that's left are a few snow piles in parking lots.
Cindy and I went to a breakfast gathering offered by the Travis Mills Foundation. This breakfast was for Vietnam-era veterans. It was at the Civic Center in Augusta Me. All free. I was amazed at how well-attended and sponsored it was. We had someone park our car for us. The tables were all set with cloth and high-end dinnerwear and dishes. The food was excellent with a very good selection. Good speakers etc. So glad we went.
Travis Mills is an inspiration, a quadruple amputee and just continues to give back. No idea he also helped soldiers from other eras! That kid is a stud! Glad you enjoyed it savemoney!
Not to put any shade on Travis mills but I have a camp close to his complex in Belgrade me. I have driven by it many times, seldom see sole there. Makes me curious.
Big complex for Maine. I have a friend there on retreat this week. They take a limited number of families from all over the USA and host them there for a week giving them access to recreation, a gym, and lots of local food. Another friend of mine drives to the airport in Portland weekly and picks up guests to attend the compound. I know they are given lobster on Thursday. Mostly, they serve post 9/11 vets. They were open this week for Vietnam vets.
My birthday was the 27th of March. So was my brother's, he was born 23 minutes after me. We couldn't be more alike and different at the same time. My Uncle has the same birthday and he is almost two decades older, yet we are like brother's, or more like a father and son. He is very special and he gives advice for free that would be very costly without. My brother's immediate family, my immediate family, my mother, and grandfather went to celebrate my brother and my birthday Wednesday. I just turned 38. Time flies and it's God's will if you make it one day or one century. My brother read a sign out front of the restaurant we went to that stated the kitchen managers name. It was one I haven't heard in awhile. It was a man that I haven't seen since he was a boy, a brother of a good friend in school. When we were done eating, and leaving, I asked staff that I'd like to speak to the kitchen manager IF he had a minute to spare. When he cam out, I told him our dinner had been good. I then said he may not remember me , but I had been good friends with his brother, and I remembered him as well. I could see it in his face as it changed as he remembered me, and it was awesome. We talked about family, and I tried to keep it short because he was working. In the end, it was the best birthday gift I got this year. I have had many friends come and go, live and die, but I got to talk to a friend I haven't seen in half my life.
