That's a lot of stuff, but then again I am usually cutting in my back yard or at dads is if we get in a bind its only a few seconds back to the garage. You have a very well thought out and awesome setup!
2 saws (last week I pinched both of them in the same downed tree), extra chains, scrench, files, gas, oil, wedges, monster maul, chaps, safety glasses, helmet, several pairs of gloves, numerous hats, sometimes wheel barrow, ramp, log chain, and last but not least toilet paper.
Nice collection of wood cutting paraphernalia Dave! I will have to post a pic of my stuff I bring in. I don't have as much as you because I am not to far from the house when I'm in the woods. But it is handy to be prepared so you don't have to stop and go back for something. Good thread. Maybe we all will get an idea or to for our processing.
Yea Buy the time I get there get set up & start felling liming & skidding, I sure don't want to have to drive all the way back home. Hope i don't need most of the stuff, but...... Came close a few time, stuck the saw real bad, but had the old 70s craftsman for back-up. Chain dug into a rock, spare was needed. Makes the difference sometimes whether I bring home a full load or a partial one or none
About how it works for me too. My woodpile is on the far side of the yard, the cutting and splitting gets done in between. It's more like making sure it all gets put away a the end of the day.
Normal equipment inventory: Tool box with spark plug, spare key for the splitter, extra shackles, remote control for splitter winch, files and spare chain. Soft hammer for driving log dogs, measuring stick(quilting arm)so all blocks are the same length, shovel, peavey, grab chain, blocks, spare log dogs, extra lengths of cable, short straps, extra quart of gas mix, pint of bar oil, and the Husky. The pizz-can and Polaski only in the dry months. 99 Toyota Tacoma and the Splitter nicknamed The French Revolution! Come this Tuesday - 3 weeks and counting!
Aaaa yes. I learned many years ago to always bring an extra chain or two. I have never hit a rock and dulled a chain. Then my father gave me his old Stihl 009. Yes! A back up saw. That is better than my other back up I had. A hand bow saw! LOL.
Better relax, lest you bust something & have to go another 3 - 6 weeks. Can you find a place online that sells the log dogs, (aka rafting dogs) ? Seem to be made in China & BC But no logging, lumber etc retailers, I could find, has them. ROLOG & Vanguard Steel LTD make them. Yours look like ROLOG. Just curious. Would think Alaska would carry them too. Same type of logging & transporting with tug boats.
Definitely relaxing! I'm really not used to be waited on hand and foot! Bless Woodwidow! On the log dogs. Look for a company that sells wire rope (cable)for logging. That's where you are most likely to find them!
