So, I took a nice ATV trip with the family but there always is a "space" issue when taking the truck, because of packing camping gear and crap it doesn't leave much room for our clothes bags. So, Beings I put an ATV in the bed of the truck, I can't pack stuff there either so a while back I decided to build a rack for the trailer and I "finally" got around to it! So, here's the start after I blew the dust off the old pipe bender and I woke up the Welding machine . It was just like old time's! So now all I got to do is finish weld and we'll be rocking and rolling!
Thanks Gang! I was going to try and weld it out today but the dam wind was blowing just a bit to hard... I'll post more once is welded, and installed correctly, I gotta paint the welds too, keep them from rusting.
Beer and lunch break! Made some serious progress, going back at it here shortly. Wanna finish welding today... Although, if I have to many.... Not to bad for a fat, old, blind, retired guy. It's not HP or nuke grade but she'll hold... I love welding pipe! I did it for many, many years, it just hurts more moving around it knees don't like it either.
Looks like you used 6010?-11? No kinks in the tube either! Any plans for tie down points or any other fancy add ons? Looks functional, it would surely cost you a pretty penny to buy something that nice!
Wow Dave! That is freakin’ OUTSTANDING Hang a feed thong, eh? I thought you said you’d just stretch it over the spare tire?
6011. About 90 amps DC reverse, it's all schedule 40 galvanized pipe... Welding it isn't fun but I had a light breeze so the smoke was blowing away from me. I did galvanized so I didn't have to paint it, just the welds. It'll be finished and on the trailer today.
... It didn't fit!!! . Thanks Buddy for the comment! Oh, for the record My God Mother had Pneumonia she is doing better and "should" be out of the hospital by Friday.
Nice rack set-up WeldrDave! Looks like it'll be able to carry lots of different sized "stuff". I've welded a fair amount of gal pipe years ago... I remember I had to stay the h*ll away from the fumes or it'd make me sick. Bad joooo joooo...
All welded out, de-boogered, weep holes drilled and painted! Installation is this afternoon, it weighs about 250 lbs I'm guessing, I need some stud muffins here to help me! When I was 30 I would have done it myself!
Yea man! By the end of the day your mouth tastes like the bottom of a bird cage... I'm not a fan of Galv, but in this instance it's what was appropriate.
