We have a few owners who run a grain/pellet mix and swear by it. I find it only really works where the pellet length is fairly uniform and the grain quality is low. If the grain is okay then I dont see the point but then we are paying $1,000/tonne for pellets here in Oz.
We are still running, probably got about a month to go, off and on. Two days ago it was 90 F today 55 F. Wont be shutting her down for a little while.
Just back from the 2 week trip to Italy; blue skies, 77 F everyday, not tooo many punters, bewdiful!

Stove hasn't even thought about firing in the last 3 days. And by the looks of the next week probably not much.

Might get one more weekend of lake fun, Does seen any below freezing nights...........

Thermostat is set at 67, and the stove was firing when I got up this morning (for at least the 2nd time since I went to bed last night). Actually it has fired every morning and been going when my alarm goes off. If I didn't know better, I would think it was on a timer for 3:15 - weird.

We postponed winterize flash for one more trip next weekend. :)

Yesterdays trip was so yukkie, There's no way were going to end the season like that. High pressure(we think) had em stuck to the bottom and lock jawed!! The fishin part was kinda :fart:

I expected the stove to fire this AM, But the shack held enough heat from baking dinner. :)

I burn about a 70/30 corn/pellets mix when it gets cold enough to run nonstop. It's too hard to ignite that heavy of a corn mix and the clinker interferes also. Right now I run about a 30/70 mix and it does well.

I'm not sure what "white stuff" you're talking about. I run corn right from the combine and clean out any cob pieces big enough to jam the auger as I dump it in.

As for more heat....it's debatable I suppose, but I think so. The pellets are really only mixed in to help manage the clinker. They help keep it from getting so hard. Because of this, I can burn whatever crappy pellets Menards has. Cost is the main reason for the corn. Corn is cheap again and I like cheap fuel!!

No heat here yet. Hasn't dropped below 70 in the house yet. Probably fire it up this week sometime though. Forecast has lots of lows in the 30 and highs only in the 50's. Shack is ok insulation wise, but sooner or later it loses the battle.

Was gonna fire the pellet stove, but first fire of the year was in the wood stove. It was 64° in the house and the family was cold.

I'm going to wait until November, I don't like to run on the stat with the constant cycling, I like to run on stove temp mode. Hey it's all good enjoy your stove.

I fired the pellet eater last night. Not a fan of loading the wood stove already! :zip::headbang::picard:

Upstairs pellet stove already kicked on tonight. Last night it was 31° with a freeze warning. At 10:30pm last night the frost was heavy... Enough to look like light snow!

The pic of the pellet stove was after I cleaned it today. It was a nasty mess yesterday because I never cleaned it since last year. Much cleaner today!
