Wanted to Thunderdome the weather people Friday (no rain had been predicted the previous 3 days). Started raining just as I left work early. Had to wait almost 40 minutes for it to stop. Didn't get finished as I only had time for one load before the next wave blew in. I was seriously pizzed. Tired of all this junk technology that ain't worth nothing. Can't even predict rain a day away? Speaks volumes of other things as well.

Anyways...Saturday was clear but the ground was mush. Decided to call it and took the day off. Yesterday was productive. Had a helper and got a good bit of wood processed and stacked. Some work done on new leg of dirtbike trail was also done. Bucked and busted some 14" long rounds for my Solo Stove sales project. Going to use the White oak that has the punk on outside. Will scrape all that crap off and make some comically small splits with intention that they end up in someone's back patio evening fire. Bagging them is the only way I can think to viably sell them. Was genuinely wore out yesterday evening. Felt good.

Dead man's curve grabs another one. Must have been late last night early this morning. Doubt there were any fatalities this time.

Nice. Found some 72DL loops of LGX for sale for $20 each. Gonna grab 3 or 4. Still trying to rustle up a deal on 84DL versions of it. Looked in my chain hoard box the other day and am not satisfied. Want half dozen of each of my chains for reserve. Half way there or better on most. Have plenty of 'working chains' to last me a good while yet. My Bar stock could be better also. Oh boy!

Made a small pile of white oak splits I'm gonna try to sell to the Solo stove type users. They are only about 13-14" long. Had to fight all the punk off outer layer to get them. Bark free heart wood.

Here's what bark, speaking of looks like after sitting under a woods stack for a year. It works surprisingly well as a water barrier.

20+ gusts with little snow balls in it ran me out.

I have a friend who loves oak heartwood and when I take either red or white I'll put it aside for him. Have a red oak score lined up (30" dbh) and the heartwood will be put aside for him.

I'm going to advertise as 'longer lasting, less smokey'. Planning to put them in tater sacks to sell (still need to order those). Dunno what I'm gonna try to charge yet. The bags I'm going to get are 24" x 24". Will have to see what actually fits in them. Hoping it'll be enough for 'an evening long fire'. Could easily market these as camp or even smoker wood, possibly. Also have some pieces even shorter that I can work up and toss into bags where bundling or otherwise wouldn't be handy.

Sounds like a plan. Please post pics when you do.

I have a bunch of framing lumber scraps and a bunch of cedar that I'd like to sell the same way.

Picked up sticks after work last night. Looks like I have a couple small fires to burn soon.

Left phone in the truck so I couldn't get their picture. Did some tractoring this evening and had two doe watch me for five minutes. It seems about 50 yards is their comfort zone. I was just tidying up a couple yuck spots while the dirt is workable.

I think I do probably more than I realize. Especially once things start greening up and visibility is lessened.

    What a day today.

    Round one.

    Screenshot_20240316-144345.png

Bacon opportunist. Have Canuckian and American today for snack.

    Screenshot_20240316-144432.png

    Round two.

    Screenshot_20240316-144405.png

Had to do some crummy other chores. Had a gully washer and a couple culverts got plugged. Cleaning out with a shovel...I can't describe the joy it brings. lol. Did some stacking and yard cleanup as well. Just stellar conditions if a tad breezy.

It's been way too long since an outdoor fire for me. I kinda rushed that one. Shoulda let it get another 1/3 bugger at least. I have another small on that I'm going to add to this week if weather cooperates. I have some aging uglies piled beside that pit that need burned too.

Hauled the short white oak splits down and threw them in a tote. Also brought a bunch of clean chunk wood that's going to live in a tote next to it. I don't have the bladders so will probably tarp them.

Gathered up a baby hickory I spotted last time I had the tractor out.

Spent about an hour messing with the new dirt bike trail spur. Had to move a good many rocks. Used them to line a drainage ditch the trail crosses. Pretty worn out. Earned my supper today and yesterday.

Slacking on pictures again. Saturday was a bust. Too much wind and mud to be in the woods. Got out yesterday. Did some branch and stick cleanup and added to one of my burn piles, then went and policed all the azzholes and chunk wood I had laying around the upper yard. Finally went and gathered the rest of the stuff at the trees I was working way in the back. Got everything that was needing stacked put up. Wore me out pretty good honestly.

Had an all Echo roster. The old gray saw has still got it! Only used a little but ran great for me. Had been fighting a tuning issue that turned out to be a dummy issue (me) instead.

    Screenshot_20240325-064332.png

Hard fighting some CAD at the moment as I found a CS5000 Echo for sale on marketplace in the next Country for a measly $130. It looks to be in outstanding condition as well. So much want. So little *real need. Just a cool old saw (mag cased) that I'd love to give a home to. I hardly ever see the gray ones around anymore.

Have not yet tested the gallon of their bar oil I bought, but just ordered a 6 pack of this stuff to try out as well. $2.32 a bottle shipped to me. Was going to get some more of the Makita Synthetic because I love the smell, but this stuff is too good a deal not to try. Claims to have an additive package similar to Red Armor, which is my personal benchmark.
