Thanks Mike, obviously this only something to do on a race chain but it doesn't seem the edge would last at all?

You could do it to work chain. It's just making the outer edges even so they cut the same width.

Alen took all the chrome off his cutters to see what would happen..
It cut fine, filed easy, but don't know how long it lasted...

I was worried I might have to read through 30 pages to find the answer to my question, and here it is. I think I'm starting to "get" filing theory a little bit. I was just thinking about how you adjust the height of the rakers, in order to control how much of the top plate is exposed to the cut. So with square file, since you're making the side plate into a cutting chisel as well, do you need to adjust the -width- of the rakers as well? And it looks like the answer is, "yes, and you might need work on the cutters too if you want to get real fancy..." o_O

I probably don't quite understand how awesome that chain is, but I'll tell ya "nice job" anyway. :)

The rakers aren't what you're hitting when stoning the chain. It evens up the side of the cutters so all cut the same width.

I'd be willing to guess that top chain really takes a lot of power to run. No pushing needed..
