    I am looking for clearance and installation specs for the above stove. It looks like this. There is no info on the stove. I already emailed Sierra in CA and was told they were made in Virginia by original company. Thanks, Woodier[IMG]

    Welcome to the club,Woodier! Have you done a comprehensive Google search yet? Usually the manuals can be found via .PDF files on the 'net. That should give you all the clearance/install guidelines.

    Thanks for the warm welcome and for trying to answer my question. There is no tag on stove anywhere. If I can find one on a clone that would do me if it shows clearance specs. WOODIER

    Same here. Not much luck.
    Reminds me of when I first tried finding info on my old Ashley. Made a couple phone calls, sent e-mails, did a bunch of Googling.......nuthin.

    Well, if you look at Unicorn1's link I posted, one of the pics shows CTCs of 36" sides and back on his model 2000. Looks similar to your stove.
    36" is the default when there's no info, and it's an old stove if I'm not mistaken. You could build an air-gapped wall shield to reduce that.

    My inlaws had one of those in their last house...made some heat for sure, but a hungry lil beast she was. They had no manual either...about the only place I came up with any info at all was over on that "other" site. If you google around it comes up.
    I tried to get them to replace that stove with a newer one but no dice...then I gave it up because they weren't using real dry wood anyways...figured an "EPA" style stove would just cause 'em headaches.
    Looks like they will be installing a Englander NC30 in their new house...we'll see how that goes...I think I'll give them some good dry stuff to start off with, don't want a bad first impression.

    Sorry, been there, tried that....even contacted Sierra. They said this stove was made in Virginia before they bought the company as you can see this model is not listed. Think my only hope is having someone reply that has a tag on the rear.....but i am beginning to doubt that they ever applied that......thanks for trying everyone.

    Not sure why there is a clearance question Woodier.
    No tag means unlisted. Period.
    NFPA 211 Standard has a section for unlisted stoves. Your clearance is 36 inches to combustible or reduced to a minimum of 12 inches with approved shield. The tags Sierra Mfg. Inc. used were not UL tags (before UL logo use) but were marked 36 inches tested to UL 1482. Common for stoves without shields to not gain a reduced clearance when tested.
    Sierra Manufacturing of Virginia Inc. made the Hearthstove, Imperial, Supreme, and Crossfire.
    Invented in 1979 and patented 1981 by John Christophel, Harrisonburg VA.

    Thanks Coaly for your information. The problem is I live in Canada where, as you know everything is a lot cooler up here. This makes for slower tree growth and denser wood that burns hotter and to add to that, higher O2 levels at -45 temperatures makes the denser wood burn even hotter (as long as you are not too high up the mountain). Hence our clearance for unlisted stoves is 48 inches.....BUT WE ONLY HAVE TO USE HALF THE AMOUNT OF WOOD. Its a lot like coal and I am sure you can understand the concept Coaly!

    Our insurance people don't like unlisted appliances. Thanks again for trying to help me out. Too bad you couldn't capture all that political heat that's out there right now! Hope things work out for you guys!

    Didn't know you were in Canada, 48 inches for untested. Sorry. There's a Plunkett near me in Pennsylvania! Your Territory will give specifics for reduced clearances. You're also into a WETT Cert. More info here;
