Really like the tractor rim! They work great! First fire in ours last night since I moved it to its new spot...
reflection in the front door, looks like an 8 or 10 inch tablet of some sort. (I don't think there's ever any original exif data in the site's jpegs )
Here is a little something I use from time to time..... I think maybe I could back off on the fire starters though....
Great pits, everybody! I remember reading something that I'll point out from a safety standpoint- never use "river rocks," the round, smooth ones. They can retain water inside, and if used at a fire pit they can overheat, essentially steaming inside and potentially explode. Never seen it happen and I wouldn't consider myself a stone expert, but I wouldn't take the chance. Plenty of other types of rock to choose from.
I've heard the same and have seen some first hand blow up and split. Fortunately uneventful but the potential is there!
There is river rock where I live but no river. I believe an ancient one is possible but this area really is weird as far as ground make up. Ive used them in my firepit, yes they do crack but I have yet to have one explode on me, good advice! I try not to introduce any new rocks that have been in the soil long. I doubt the rock has been in a river recently, I build my fires quite hot so I find that I am doing what nature would be doing but more rapidly. The high heating and cooling repeatedly. Thanks for the reminder
