Honestly I would have rather had to clean up 22" than the snow/rain/sleet/more snow (which all froze solid) mess that I got. At least the snowblower would have done some good. But yeah, not a pleasant surprise when the forecast is woefully short like that.
Might not be over yet. Potential for another mess next week. (I've already seen some estimates at over a foot of snow for us).
Latest update from a Maine meteorologist. It means that Wednesday and Thursday next week have a fairly high probability of being impacted by a major storm. Is it rain or is it snow? At this time, it looks like it will start as rain and then cold air will get wrapped in from the low and change everyone over to snow ... even the coastline. But that of course is track-dependent. Nothing is a lock five-plus days out, though there have been many more model runs with snow than model runs with rain. How much snow for my town!? Stop it. You know better. But there is absolutely the possibility of 1 to 2 feet of snow in a good part of the state if the storm sets up just right. What could ruin this and make it lame? The biggest risk here is that the storm closes off the low too far west. If that happens, the system will be robbed of the dynamics and moisture of the Gulf of Maine and be more annoying than epic.
Letting it "predict" the weather is one thing. Thinking it's gonna be correct is a whole different thing.....
Happy Spring to us - LOL. Although it is more likely for me to get what is color coded (12-16") than the 2-3' that is written across the face of the picture. I'm in a valley, but, those in higher terrain could get walloped. And joy, high winds - like we didn't have enough extended power outages from last week's storm.
Well, the watch was issued.... storm totals greater than 18" usually means a good azz kicking, add 60mph+ wind gusts, this will create problems no doubt. Let's just say we were to get 36".... that plus the 33" we recieved a week and a half ago would be close to half our season total (at least the past couple years) We're ready!

As you and Well Seasoned mentioned, the winds are going to be a big issue this time. The 26 inches we received here last week was light, powdery snow and there was no real wind to speak of, so it was an easy storm to deal with (I cleaned up early the morning after while the ground was still frozen before everything turned to mud again). Not looking forward to this storm with the heavy wet snow, high winds, and long duration. I'm still seeing forecasts showing over two feet possible here (just a few miles south of Mt. Washington). Test fired the generator again yesterday and topped off on fuel so now it's just a waiting game. Hope everyone comes through safe and sound.
