So what's a firewood hack to do with this heat wave going on? Go out and buy a new saw of course! Another Dolmar in this case. Specifically a 6100. MasterMech put me over the edge when he let me run his @ the PA GTG. CoreyB I guess you are on the hook for a 7910 now! :D

I've been in the market for a 60cc saw for awhile now, but I wanted to hold off until I had a chance to get my hands on a ms 362 type II. I recently had a chance to fondle one and give it a little cookie run. I used to run exclusively Stihl since the days of the old aught series saws. The 362 is a quality saw and it was nice but, in my opinion, it wasn't $200 nicer than the Dolmar.

    Shiny and new!

One of the many features I like about the 6100 is that you pop 3 snap latches and the whole top end is wide open for cleaning and maintenance. It also sports one of the better stock air filters I've seen on a saw.

Not so shiny anymore. I turned it loose on some dry hickory and let it eat! This saw balances very well with a 20" bar and chain and pulls full chisel with authority! Solid high quality OPE from the other German saw maker.

I haven't found anything yet to dislike about it. If it's anything like the 7910, I doubt I will. If I was to nit pick, I'd say I never cared for a primer bulb on a chainsaw, but that's really reaching in this case.

I need to get a 421 before a 7910. Lol with a 6100 in your stable there mat be a good used 7910 coming up for sale right after that 6100 breaks in.

Well I put my hands on a 362 type 2 and a 562 also. Real world I didn't notice any difference between the weight of the 3 saws. The 562 did have the whole sideways lean thing going for it though!

I got it for 525 out the door with 2 extra loops of oregon lpx chain and a 6 pack of dolmar synthetic mix oil. Best deal my Stihl dealer could do on a 362 type 2 was 750 otd with an Xtra loop of Stihl chain and 6 pack of synthetic mix oil. And this is a dealer I've given lots of business over the years.

Yeah I think it was a fair deal for me and the dealer. Which is the best outcome really.

You will like that one after a muffler mod. Without it they are gutless! Great saw in its own right.

After running yours, I know it's gonna be a tough model to beat for $300 bones.
