    This is what hardwood in the Colorado Rockies goes for. You guys on the East coast and Midwest are living in a gold mine.

    Does hickory and oak grow in Colorado?

    Actually, $400/cord for such hardwood there seems a good deal but I don't live there!

    It does in the form of mostly yard trees in the city. Although I can’t say I’ve ever seen a live hickory tree. Either way, it’s a bit of a drive to find it. You can get scrub oak where I live, but that not what’s in the pic, I can tell. He probably had that wood shipped in.

    If it was a full cord I’d agree that it’s not a bad deal. But it says it’s under a cord.

    Yep, I’m definitely spoiled with great hardwoods everywhere. In the middle of hoarding a wealth of mulberry, neighbor asks me if I’ll cut down and take his black locust and cherry trees. o_O:smoke:Why yes, yes I will!! :handshake:

    We have oak all over here and yet $400/cord is about right.

    I'd get about $600 for a cord of oak or hickory. But I'd actually split it.

    Only cord in that picture is what you'd use to tie up those bundles.

    One thought on that being short of a cord is the split length? What if those are 24" long splits?

    What is the typical split length in your area Cash Larue? Do softwoods burners usually buck rounds longer? I guess I'm thinking of these big log cabin homes with stone fireplaces.

    If you’re seriously interested in it, arrange the meeting and take a tape measure with you. Figure out how much is really there and buy it based on $400 for a full cord.
    1/2 =$200
    .65 =$260
    .75 = $300
    And so on….
    I have a hard time thinking that there is that much hickory in one place in Colorado

    Might be 1/2 cord there. Try to talk him down a bit.
