I'm not sure how I missed this section, what's wrong with me? We're tasked with the Christmas meat for 10-25 people and its going to be brisket. So I started looking for another grill and possible a pellet one. I'm probably behind the 8 ball on this as I need to ensure I can come through on some good meat. Can A FHC member recommend a pellet grill. Thank you! I've looked on YouTube at GMG and a few others.
It's not a pellet grill but in can say the Big Green Egg does a fantastic job! You can grill, smoke, BBQ almost anything on it. I have eaten many a meal on them brisket, steak, smoked turkey etc. Maybe some day I'll be able to buy one until then I'll just have to partake of my fil generosity. Aka he wants to see the grandkids.
I've got two green mountain grills. A Dave Crocker that goes campin with us and the Daniel Boone stays on the patio. Easy to use and great taste. Did our turkey in the DB again this year. Everything from ribs, roasts, pizza, even hotdogs are better from pellets. That said, I'd like to add a Egg style cooler to my collection this next year. Pellet grill only goes to 500 or 550 on the crocket. Like to cook a steak at 800 if possible Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
WWW bought a "pit boss" and is very happy with it. Its pellets. Did the cold make it down to your neck of the woods?
I've had a pellet grill for a long time. Bought it when we lived in SC so that would have been about 2005-2006. I have a Traeger and I LOVE it, there are many brands out there and I wont tell you one is better then the other. I know the Traeger I own is a better version then the new ones. New owners and I believe manufacturing went south of the border. On to the grills, they are absolutely amazing to use and flavor is crazy good. I've done hams, ribs, turkeys, hogs, steaks, burgers ect. I did a few turkeys for my family's thanksgiving and was then volunteered to make the turkeys every year following. The pellet grill is honestly easier to to use then propane and tastes better then charcoal. You have an almost endless selection of flavors of wood to choose from and the grill I have has a thermostat like an oven. So cooking at almost any temp is a breeze. I would highly recommend you get one. We make an awesome pizza on it, and have even made cookies and my cousin made a killer cheesecake on his. I have a remote thermometer and slow cooking that is a perfect tool to make it go better. You can monitor meat and grill temps from inside the house.
I have the England Eric Pg1000, built like a tank and easy to use, I can do 6 racks of ribs at a time.... I'll be smoking a pork tenderloin for new years on it....
I love to smoke pork butt/shoulder for pulled pork. Can feed the masses! Here I am doing close to 120lbs for 350 people for family night at bible school. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
not to get off topic but....brownies in pellet grill. After smoking all this... Steaks And the chef Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've got a traeger as well. As mentioned above the Green Mountain line is slightly nicer. I got mine at a price I couldn't pass up so I had to buy the traeger. Supposedly they are improving though. I've seen some good things about grilla grills. Might want to check them out. A lot of bang for the buck. Pellet grills/smokers kick azz.
I just spoke with the HH6 (wife) and she's good with the pellet smoker plan, she does a lot of bbq also so it would be the perfect purchase, plus she would be buying it .
It makes me feel sexy ... Think the wife was amazed at the size of the steaks I bought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I couldn't pull the trigger on a pellet smoker, part of me didn't want a grill that needed to be plugged in and I don't have any overhead cover in the back yard. Going old school with the Weber.
