Years ago, there was an "elderly" gent that had to spend the night in the woods once he got twisted around while deer hunting. After awhile, he found himself not believing his compass. I haven't experienced it personally but I hear tell there are some areas where iron deposits (?) will affect the compass readings......this is what threw him off. He was fine the next morning.
Let me put this a little differently. What kind of person would put that kinda effort into something just to have it washed away?
What kind of crazy nut would spend hours n hours making/stacking all this really nice firewood, just to burn it?!
My dad who used to avidly read Scientific American and Sky and Telescope magazines kept a shade 15 lens in a drawer for viewing eclipses and other solar phenomena. This recent eclipse happened behind the clouds, but the last one I viewed through my welding hood.
Dropped some sheep off one time at the Mt Hope auction and my buddy and I were walking around. We walked into one of the barns and there was a giraffe or a camel just standing there hanging out. Definitely not something you see everyday. They were having their exotic sale a week or two after the sale I dropped my sheep off at.
