So I tore down the old lined cement block heatsink and am in the process of installing dsp and class a chimney. I have selkirk class a already so i purchased selkirk 206621 and the flashing for my roof. My question is am I going to have to get one of those black support boxes or do I just cut back the clearances and use the trim? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I'm not sure what comes in the 206621 kit. When I have installed through the ceiling chimneys I used all purchased items and installed per instructions. I didn't have to fabricate anything. I even used the supplied trim kit to trim out the black box that went through my ceiling.
206621 doesn't include a box. It's a adjustable class a section with nailing wings that are movable to adjust to the pitch of your roof. Since I only penetrate the shingle, sheathing, 2x6 rafter, and 3/4" tongue and groove ceiling. According to northline express the kit includes everything except the flashing Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

206621 is the image in the middle. Appears it uses just a adjustable trim and a collar and is able to support 30 ft of overall pipe......unless I'm reading spec wrong Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I spoke out of my Dura Vent experience. I'm not sure on the Selkirk. I always have used a box in the ceiling, maybe Selkirk is different
And don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to argue. I'd just like some positive reinforcement before I go cutting holes in my new roof only to find I have to go back to fix/repair/correct/or buy more parts before i can get to choochin lol Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I completely understand, the hole in the roof is a big pucker factor. Does Selkirk have a tech support number?
I'll look that up, I guess I could email their tech support as well Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Looking at Northline it is called a pitched ceiling support kit (206621) and their description states: For installation of a chimney in a cathedral or pitched ceiling such as standard A-Frame construction. The Pitched Ceiling Support Kit provides all necessary parts for a complete installation with the exception of the required Insulated Pipe Lengths and Adjustable Flashing. Note: This kit includes a stove pipe adapter that will only work with single wall pipe stove pipe. If you are planning on installing double wall stove pipe you will need to also purchase 5SE-6DSP-CPA to ensure that you will be able to install this kit. I read all that and was told I'd still need a support box, which went against what northline said and now I've contacted selkirk and they confirmed flashing is the only extra part I'll "need" to purchase that wasn't included in the kit. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
