Browsing FBMP, stumbled on an add for free mulberry. Looked to be in my wheel house size wise. Inquired multiple times and shook on it yesterday. That last one gave me pause for a second but I’ll deal with it for mulberry. About 33” or so w a bunch of flare at the base. It’s a noodle-fest. Chain on the 394 was getting a little loose so I stoped to tighten. Screw turned endlessly. Spot the issue? Just so happened to have a couple spares in my go bag. Back in business. The round below was sitting flat. Way too big to stand it up so I cut it milling style down to a point I could put my 3 wedges in and get it split apart. Upon noodling those two pieces, first cut in I hit metal. This was load one. Needed some lunch. 365 had second loop that was roached on it and I just hit metal w the 394 so break fully needed.
That was first load. Before I left the owner of this business, two doors down came walking over and asked if I’d want 2 trees he wants gone. Walk over and he shows me these: Brought the Isocore and a sledge this time to open up that noodle cut I hit metal in. Jeebus! After finally getting that one 1/2 cut down to size, land owner told me I could pull my truck in the structure (going to be mini-storage). Limb wood is respectable in its own right. That’s a 28” bar. This is the scene and what’s left (Chud ). Didn’t have to carry too far. The ground is fully saturated. No idea if this is red/white mulberry. It looks identical to the red I cut down in the field beside my house. Probably 2-3 loads? This is how far I carried. And the staging area is stuffed. I’m going to have to move a trailer and lay down more pallets.
That’s what I thought they were. Have to get the rest of the mulberry and recover a bit before getting to them.
Yeah baby! Glad you got it. Good deal on getting those other to tree. I love it when a score adds bonus wood. Metal mulberry! Maybe its related to the one I cut back in January! Still have to go back for the rest of mine. Wanna join me?
No. I roached 3 28’s with all the embedded stones in the bark. They aren’t terrible but not just blunt either. The 36 I haven’t closely looked at after hitting that nail. I felt it and immediately stopped but you know.. ported 94cc turns the chain pretty quick. I think I have 3 more 28’s so I’m hoping to just soldier through it all and fix chain when done. I have this mentality when I get premium wood that I need to get it asap.
That is quite a Mulberry!! Hate hitting the metal but love the wood and a fairly easy score. I say fairly because green Mulberry has some weight! Nice heat in a couple years, for sure. Sent from my SM-S536DL using Tapatalk
