Disheartened by missing out on my silver maple today I stopped by the town compost dump to see what was good for the taking. Some nice cherry, maple and dead ash Goldilocks wood but too long to load as is. Asked if I could use a saw and they said no. IMG_5163.JPG Found an Eric Wanderweg sized holly and some Eastern white pine rounds. Neither for me. IMG_5167.JPG IMG_5166.JPG Spied this next to my truck. The lowest btu "wood" on the FHC chart...bamboo.
Firewood BTU & Drying Chart IMG_5165.JPG
Not really on my bucket list but for chits and giggles I took one stick. IMG_5164.JPG IMG_5168.JPG
Who else can say they scored bamboo?! Gonna keep me warm for five minutes!

EDIT: crap, :hair:I was wrong...balsa is lower btu. Dang, new bucket list wood.

    Bamboo , Invasive weed!

    Nuisance

    • The Connecticut law, found at Section 22a-381e of the Connecticut General Statutes, further provides that allowing the bamboo to grow beyond the boundaries of a parcel of real property “shall be deemed to be a nuisance,” and that an owner “shall be liable for any damages caused to any neighboring property by such bamboo, including, but not limited to, the cost of removal of any running bamboo that grew beyond the boundaries of his or her property.”

Drop it off at my neighbors behind the saw-mill. Maybe she can make a Tee-Pee out of it.
Don't want any in my yard.

Buck it and split it and add it to your species list for the year.

Probably gonna have to loan him one of your huskies. It would really be to bad to lose the ‘24 species by just one

My parents have a patch of bamboo. I use it regularly to build trellis's and stuff for vining garden veggies to grow up.

Time for a battery saw or winch on your rack. Nice cherry logs! It’s been a while since I’ve gotten a big cherry. A feast or famine species for me. Last one I got was from my own yard.
Could you chain them up and drag them off site to cut up?

Would they let you in there with a trailer to load the logs on
Trailer and winch or even a couple strong friends there is always a way to get wood
    Now the other part
I do understand that with that bamboo in the back of the truck that was a full load

They were longer than 8'. I could've flip flopped them and leave tailgate open, but it was wet, raining, and I wasn't feeling it. More than likely cutting a load of dead BL to cheer myself up tomorrow.

I’ve got bamboo if you want more. We had a huge patch of it but bulldozed and burned it. Nasty stuff to get rid of. Still a little patch left.
Haha one year, shortly after becoming single I dug up three stems, drug em in the house and stuffed em in the biggest pot HD sells. Must’ve been 22’ tall. Ceilings are only 18’. Dig up three smaller ones and called em my Christmas tree. Frugal :)

What is the reason for saw restriction?
