Most manufacturers recommend changing the engine oil at 50 hrs or seasonal

I wouldn't go over that if it was me. But that is just me and my OCD maintenance program.
Oil even though the cost has gone up it is still cheap insurance and the life blood of that thing. Not only does it lubricate the internals, but it also helps cooling as well.
Seasonal for this situation just doesn't work.
That was the road that the last motor went down until the road came to an abrupt end.
I donated the new motor to BRAD for the help he has given me over the past years and trying to prevent this one from ending up in the graveyard as well.

Stop guessing and put an hour meter on it and be done with it, no more guessing.
$10 from Scam-azon or Flea-bay for a simple meter that just has a wire wrapped around the spark plug wire = priceless.

Half cord delivery today emptied a rack IMG_4993.JPG So i got to work splitting and stacking. Processed nearly this whole stack. The few chunks left need to be noodled into pretty "splits". IMG_4996.JPG IMG_5000.JPG Some saved for bundle wood. IMG_5001.JPG Ever present nails. IMG_4998.JPG IMG_4999.JPG More than likely hitting the score tomorrow. Customer of mine gave me a heads up where they are cutting more in the area. but different road.

Oh trust me i do too, but never knowing where, when, and how ill acquire wood, i gotta get while the gettins good. This score has yoelded some primo firewood. Plus, today i was loading the wheelbarrow as i split and stacking. Saved me some extra work. Plus when i get too many (if there such a thing) rounds on hand i start feeling overwhelmed. I loaded for another delivery which emptied another half cord rack. At least a cord on hand between rounds and splits to fill it. I will empty another rack tomorrow or Monday.

I've never worried about it, but do you just mix the nails in with your other sale wood?

Pretty much. If i get some oddball metal ill put it aside. I had sliced through a nail while noodling and dont even think i knew it.

    Load ten today.

Scouted nearby neighborhood where they are cutting. Found some shag and a dead ash in a front yard. Nobody home and judging by the stacks of wood they were keeping it. Another yard with a nice sugar maple in chunks and BLACK LOCUST. Guy out front working on his stacks. He was keeping it all. Had a nice chat with him. He told me the picker truck had come through.
Back to the last area. Oak and black birch on a hill. Didnt feel like climbing. Busy road. IMG_5006.JPG
Took the rest of the sugar maple from the prior cut. IMG_5008.JPG IMG_5009.JPG IMG_5010.JPG Found more across the street little ways up. Room to park. IMG_5012.JPG Cut some basswood (need SS wood) to top off the load. IMG_5013.JPG IMG_5014.JPG Unloaded at storage. IMG_5015.JPG More to be had so ill be back.

There was maybe six chunks (lower left) remaining from prior load. The maple quartered up nicely and i paced it in the bed really good.

Good work Brad. It's been unseasonably warm here. Makes it not as much fun.

Those are some nice oak logs. Glad to hear buzzsaw is getting them. Lots of wood down there I see. Truck came through a few streets away from me. Not much good stuff and most of it’s on a property of a guy that sells firewood. Guessing he’ll want it.

FWIW the first oil change should be done rather quickly on a new engine. That’s when most of the wear occurs as everything fits itself together. Rings, piston, cylinder etc.
the Kohler on my DHT came with a special break in oil in it. The book was very adamant it be removed after the first five hours. Never a bad idea no matter what type of oil is in it.

buzz-saw was very adamant about the first change which has been done.

Yes there is a lot of good stuff. Found a huge hickory and will inquire. There's a load of black birch that id like to get. Him and i going Saturday for the oak.
