just replace the piece.....for the amount of time youll spend mucking around, just easier.....if some yahoo went and rtv'd it, you'll likely ruin the piece before you get it off

Actually wasn't too bad a job in the end. I had tried muscle 1st,mostly my sons. Then the on blast and then heat but no luck. Finally walked over to my neighbor and the solution was to clamp a vise grips to the end of the pipe and tapping on the vice till it loosened. Then rotate and continue till it slid off. I thought about just cutting and replacing but didn't have time to make it to dealer for the pipe. I had to get this done today cause the queen returns from Florida tomorrow. We just got done remodeling our kitchen so she'd flip if she came back to a dismantled house again.

So, no control board available? So if it gets fried, no sense having one?

Likely, But some dealers don't move them as fast as others. Warranty should go by sales date IIRC. Not likely the board will be discontinued tomorrow and other parts as well. One would think anyway. A 3 year old units parts should be in supply for some time?

I would also think a retro fit for the new controllers would or should be available if they do discontinue the current?

yea, Its very likely you can still find the older units in stock at many dealers, and they are fine. The unit itself is no longer being produced, but possibly even Harman still has them in stock....
Im guessing parts will be available for quite some time.

As for a retrofit kit for the "old" units to the "new" TC units? I don't believe it will happen. Im guessing you'd need a new loading door, wiring harness, combustion fan and capacitor, circuit board, etc....that's alot of stuff for a retrofit. I vaguely also recall being told at the Harman school down in Halifax last summer that they weren't going to produce a retrofit kit either.

So I'm a little late to the party here but I have a question. Is there a reason the stove isn't placed in the corner symmetrically? Maybe it's the angle of the picture but it appears to be turned to the right? Aiming the heat discharge towards a door?

Good eye. It is indeed facing a door opening. This room used to be my deck.
