I'm not getting any power to my auger. What's the best way to test out the computer, vacuum switch and snap disk?
With power disconnected, you'll need to jumper the two wires going to the vacuum switch together. You can use a paper clip BUT make sure it doesn't touch any metal...(unless you are handy with a multi meter then you can also check the vac switch with that) If you have a hopper lid switch, you'll need to check that too.
I have a multi meter. I did try to jump both wires of the vac switch and lid switch. I'm still not getting the auger to move. When I tested the 2 auger wires I wasn't getting any 12v from them. Things to note. Lost power the other night for a couple hours, after the power came back the stove didn't work. I do have the stove hooked to a surge protector, but it's old so maybe it's not any good. I always don't hear the computer click when the hopper lid is shut or jumped. Last night all 3 computer lights where on. Red, green, blinking blue. Now the green is not light. I'm guessing I need a new computer?
You should be getting 120 volts (ish) to the vac switch....maybe 12v was a typo? But it sounds like the board probably took a dump
Unfortunately, Ebay or Earth Sense. Sometimes ES has refurbed boards. I purchased a couple in the past for Quads and never had an issue with them. I can't believe the prices on these things now. I have 3 speed boards in stock for the Quads but not the Cab 35-50's. You can try calling Pantrol and see if they also make the Heatilator boards. Don't contact them through their site though, they never seem to get back to you. http://pelletstoves.pantrol.com/
I decided to check the snap disk by shorting out the ones that affect fuel delivery. After shorting out disk 2 the auger start humming and the little rod in the middle started spinning. We where all sleeping when the power went out, maybe the stove was running and it over heated with the fans off? The stove is running normal now with disk 2 shorted out. I will let it cool, restart one more time. If it's good I'll order a new disk.
I was looking up the part and what do I see. It's a manual reset. Sure enough it was tripped. Reset it and hooked everything back up. She's running again. Free fix, guess it's my lucky day. Looked up computer prices and yikes!
Zero problems ever. In ten years only thing I've changed on this was the starting rod and that was because of a pellet manufacturer bad pellets.
So snap disk #2 on yours has a manual reset on it? I don't think I've seen that before. #3 yes but not #2....very interesting
Always....ALWAYS....check the simplest things first. When my daughters, a friend, or anybody contacts me to try to fix something electrical, my first question is always "Is it plugged in?", and work toward the more complex, more $$ things next.
