I bought a Toro commercial 48" 19 HP Kawasaki slightly used in 2007. I mow about 6.5 acres of rocks and ravines. I've also mowed a couple of yards on the side, some years. It's been almost flawless- One drive belt, one beck belt, one throttle cable, one hydraulic hose, two batteries and two sets of deck bearings (keep getting plastic hay twine around the shafts taking out the seals). Parts are cheap online. Money well spent.
FYI, Toro owners Exmark. They are almost identical.

My 60"/30HP 2008 Bad Boy has been great for almost 500 hours now. It has a Kawasaki motor, Parker pumps, and Hydrogear drives. Only had to replace a couple "wear and tear" items (idler pulley, electric PTO, engine coil). Other than that it has been bullet proof. Built like a tank...I think it weighs 1,200lbs dry.

The newer ones look fancier, but are still built really well....was taking a look at them when I was at the OPE store a few weeks ago.

Toro doesn't have the right combination of parts to match the budget. There's a hole in the toro line for those like me. Need the 2800 hydros on a 48 or 54" in the mid 4k range. They don't have one.

Really?! They have 500 models...more than anybody else!
54" Titan® IronForged™ Deck 26 HP Gas Zero Turn Riding Mower | Toro | Toro
You should easily be able to buy this machine for $45-4600...I know our local dealer takes $500 off the MSRP all the time...a good negotiator can get more...normally, but times are not normal now though either...

I'll try. I'll be paying cash, so we'll see. It's definitely a different time right now

So what I see is that toro's pricing is listed a bit higher than what real prices are. My local dealer, which is super close, lists MSRP and that's it. Even on toros website, they are offering $200 off sale now on the titans. Also, they really don't lead on that they have the 2800 hydros. The 8.5 mph makes it obvious to me, but not to some, especially homeowners that are looking. They should.

Also this dealer has a crap ton of inventory. I meant to stop tonight, but I had trees I bought in the bed of my truck. I'll see if they do a good deal and let me take one off of their inventory for the pierce I want.

Also, in talking with several dealers, a 54" deck is really not needed, and a 48" will totally work for a 1 acre lot. So there's a couple hundred saved too. I'll actually stop over at the toro dealer tomorrow. Maybe I'll get a red one instead?

And not that you need a 60" deck, but the 75760 Timecutter has the 2800 hydros too...listed at $4299...not sure why its the only Timecutter Z with a 2800
Edit: oops, that has the Toro engine though too

I've got a Toro 6000 72 inch deck. Built like a tank. Absolutely love it. 500 hours and replaced one belt due to hitting a large limb.

Nice price, but the deck is too wide for my ( or any shed) I'm looking at. This is with me putting up a new shed too. What I'd gain in savings on the ztr, I'd lose on the shed. +The 60" door shed I'm looking at at Menards is~$700. Not a bad drive either, and I've got lots of family out there in tomah.

A 54" deck will have about 4" of clearance with the chute up.

So I stopped at the toro dealer on my way home. They had the 54" Titan with the 26 hp Kohler. 5899 + tax. No cash discount because this was one of the few ztrs they had. You can't even order this machine on toro.com right now due to manufacturing issues that everyone is having. This is also despite this dealer would be the one that would deliver it to me. So that's a good deal, but I think I'll go with the hustler raptor xd 54 that was supposed to arrive today at the one dealer 15 miles from me. I didn't call them back yet as I wanted to see what other options were like the toro. Well, not much doing on that end. Three hustler dealer I am first in line for the raptor 54xd was supposed to call me when it was in, and they were to get a shipment yesterday. Apparently they just started shipping these due to component shortages, which apparently was the rear tires. If they didn't get it yesterday the next shipment would be next week, so it shouldn't be too bad.

For chitz and giggles, if you're bored see if they have any that they'd do for that deal on that machine, that is the same one I saw today that they went let it the door under 5899.

I remember shopping for the last two ATVs we bought, the Kodiak last year and the sportsman in 03. There were dealers that would deal. As long as you'd be willing to drive or ship it.

Architects are what you become if you suck at math. Those who are good at math become engineers. :D

too funny....one of the sayings on a "top 10 reasons to go to school for engineering" t shirt I bought back in college was something along the lines of, "If you flunk out of engineering you can always go for business".

With all the manufacturing issues, lack of inventory and pricing you might be better off buying a couple goats to eat your grass.
