    Thanks, fellow Iowan!
Have mostly used Husqvarnas and Jonsereds and I tend to prefer them, but I found a good deal on a heated Dolmar 5105.
I only have a tank of fuel through it, but so far I am impressed. I'll get more time on it when the weather cools down. I'm not to savvy on the technology and picture thing, but I'll see what I can do.

I would have liked to do more cutting this winter, but it seemed like I was always moving splits around. Then we had 3' of snow on the ground from January through March, and then March-April is when the maple sap is running. My woods has a lot of low areas, and summer is the best time to access a lot of it, at least until I get some bigger equipment. Like cnice_37 said, and like my Dad would always say, you gotta make hay when the sun shines. Except this summer; you gotta work through the rain too if you mean to git er done.

Think I am getting this photo thing figured out.
I prefer weather that looks more like this than what we have now!

I like getting the trees up out of the woods with something like this. I cut most of the limb wood off to make it easier to transport and will get it later.

I really like the colder weather too when it comes to felling and hauling logs out. Your pic carrying the logs up across the field reminds me of our old farm. I did that for the first 4 years we lived there. Used an old Hydrocat loader with a one finger claw on the front. Dropped trees (ash) all around the edge of the fields and carried them up just like you are.

In fact, that pic could have been taken at our farm... there's a spot down the long field that looked just like that, looking back up. Cool pic.

If ever there was an internet based "home," this would be it! You got it going on, Ronaldo :yes:
And now with posting pics behind you... you may proceed with feeding the hoarding crew with more:rofl:

I work the wood pile til I'm out of sweat, or peel off the layers (when it's chilly) til I get cold niblets!

Preferred is parts of October when not managing a softball team, and then November and December (official off season). Add in August as it's the only other free month from softball.

I'll split and stack in any temps above 60, but don't like to cut unless it's 50 to 70. I'll fetch free wood anytime, but it won't get processed until the temps suit me.
I've never been a fan of frigid temps and they normally don't hit us until late December, that usually gives me plenty of processing time.

Good point about picking up free wood. Its never too hot to grab some free, future btu's! But they will probably have to wait to be processed. :)
