I can't start cutting until after deer season, which ends on January 1. I cut through April. Most of my cutting is done with below freezing temps. Last year, I cut on days that were below zero. The cold won't stop me. Heat, on the otherhand, is my kryptonite. I wouldn't even dream of cutting today (90 degrees and humid). Best cutting weather for me is in March and April.

I'll cut and haul in about anything below 50º...been out in below zero which didn't bother me a bit. Now splitting I like about 20º - 55º if I get to choose. I have and will cut in warmer but only when the farmer I cut most on says things like "if you want it get it out of here or I'm going to push it in a pile and burn it".

Anything south of 55-60 is what I prefer. But if wood has to be cut and removed asap I make 75 my cut off point. 80 if its in the shade.

20-50 degrees works for me-no wind, however!

I do like to get out a couple times a year when it's well below zero.

I don't know if it's a masochistic streak or that I want to remind myself how lucky I have it (and that I don't HAVE to do that) or that I'm just plain nuts....and no I'm not putting those choices up for everyone to vote on. :)

A quiet November afternoon with a good snap in the air. It is a reminder of what is to come.

Between 40 and 75 degrees is okay.
When it's 20 degrees or below, only time I go outside is to get Firewood or food , one exception to that is when I have to clear snow

94 with 104 heat index when I got home from work at 3PM.Still 93 here. :picard:Really like starting at 6AM,if I could I'd start at 5AM,but would no doubt be the only one at the job until my labor foreman shows up at 530

Far as working in the woods goes I prefer temps from 45 to 70 with low humidity, but can be found doing it in temps from 0 to 90 degrees.Like last Saturday morning when I dropped that large ugly old Red Oak,it was low 80's with 70%+ humidity :hair:Light rain or snow don't slow me down very much but if there's thunder/lightning,strong winds or a blizzard you wont find me outside then.:D

Any day it is not raining with soggy ground to say the least for the weather we have had for the past month or better. Never had a stack fall from the pallet sinking on the edges till last week. o_O

I like 50-60 and windy during the bare ground months. With snow on the ground I like 10-30 degrees in the spring.
Lately... I like any weather I feel good nuff to do sumthin... even if it's wrong...

I'd like between 30 and 50 with sun. For whatever reason, I always end up working in sub 20 or over 80 temps. I'll take the heat over working in the cold though. Last February I css'd a small log load when it was in the teens and that really wore me out. Frozen wood splits well though..

One hell of a lot cooler than the 90 in the shade at 6pm I had today.

I like it cool enough that I want gloves and a hat.

That's my favorite weather too to process farwood. But I'll do it even up to about 70°.

I go out and cut when it's below zero because I can't stand being cooped up inside.:hair: And it's FUN!

That's the kind of day im in a tree stand! I cut pretty much year round but try to avoid it in the fall. Takes too much time away from hunting. Days like today though I don't touch the wood unless I have to. The air's so thick you could eat it.:faint:

I get plenty warm when gathering firewood, so I dont like to do it in the heat. I pretty much cut and split all winter when there are no bugs, no foliage and I can wear plenty of clothes to fend off the stickers out in the timber. Cold doesn't bother me much, but don't like heat and humidity!!!
And I recently got my first saw with heated handles, so now there is no excuse not to cut in the cold.:)

Fall and early winter is my preferred time. A light snow falling would be even better!
