Here's mine. Made it today out of a piece of metal shelving. I'm pretty pleased with myself:D, having never worked a piece of metal in my life, bought an angle grinder yesterday, still got all my body parts today, not all the cuts are exactly straight but it works for me, my stove is in the basement, that little piece in the back still needs to be attached. So for painting, should I sand all the old paint off first or just paint over top of it?

Looks good Dave! As for the paint you'd have to test to see if the spray paint is compatible with the existing paint.. I have seen where the new paint attacks the old paint and made it wrinkle and peel off..

    Looks great Dave
The paint that is on there is not high temp paint so it will probably just bubble up and come off.
Have you gotten your stove hot with it on there yet?

    Nice job Dave.
My temporary deck gets pretty hot.
I doubt the existing paint is good for the heat.
    Use some stripper on it.

The deck gets really really hot without the blowers on. It will burn off the original paint regardless of the heat resistance of a top coat.

The question is, how long can you leave your hard sole slippers on there before they melt? :D;)

I put them on there a little while ago, didn't time it though.

Good stuff, it always makes me wonder why more manufacturers dont at least off this. Increases heat output BIG TIME.

I wear slip on shoes, Romeos, most of the time. No shoes on the stove.

DaveGunter , how'd you make out with the paint?
Highbeam , what's the thickness on that sheet of aluminum? Looks about 1/8".
