Supposed to be at the metal shop for part of the morning tomorrow. I'm going to make a convection deck for the Drolet el Dorado and give it a go! Viewfinder on my camera got busted as I was bending over to pick up something else....I'll try pics but no guarantee!
Got the two piece convection deck onto the el dorado last night; camera gave up the ghost totally now. Won't snap a pic at all!
Hmm, seems yooperdave can't draw, or something? So anywho, thought I'd give a little update on the deck. Seems to be moving the air better than my makeshift version, and it doesn't rattle. The kitchen still "feels" a little cooler than the living room, but the thermometer tells me they're almost the same temp now. I can feel the back bedroom getting warmer then it used to, but I'll need to put a thermo back there to know for sure. The stove room is no longer a sweltering sauna, although it's obviously the warmest room in the house. All in all, I'd consider it a success, but I'll know better when the real cold hits.
Hey, if they won't wake up.....leave. They can just freeze off their little patookas for all I care. We need pics man, pics. That should allowyou more time to hang out with us and do more important stuff. You know, like taking pics.
So, describe how the kitchen feels cold, i.e. at the feet, waist level, near the head.....? Are you experiencing any draftiness in the kitch? That would promote a mixing that would be felt by the body (at any particular elevation from the floor on up), but could fool the thermometer.... Food for thought. Not mind you.
papadave- I can't picture you in a banana costume...... "Picture" being the operative term, of course......
There's a draft from about waist level down. I'm sure it's coming from the back bedroom......the door especially. I may have mentioned in past posts that it's actually an interior hollow cord door, and poorly installed. The whole door is cold and gets frost on it when it gets beyond chilly. The new one is sitting on the deck, and a new storm door is in the shop. As soon as my brother gets his deer tag filled, I'm gonna' bug him again to help install it. Matter of fact, he's out tracking one right now. A deer, not a door.
Sounds like you have a handle on it (the cold, not the door ) so we shall await the outcome and your report after the door swap. Is it done yet? Hurry up. Banana head.
I have five of these around the house and one in the basement so I always know what's what with temperature and humidity. https://www.amazon.com/AcuRite-Indo...9342551&sr=8-7&keywords=AcuRite++Temperature, I like em, a couple of them I drilled a little hole in the clip on the back to hang them on the wall
You know, now that you mention it, I think there is a camera option on my phone! My kids told me its a smart phone....I told them the operators the problem! I turn it on about once every week or two. As far as the convection deck goes, it is a two piece that I slid into position from the right and left sides, connected in the middle and haven't really used the kicker stove since I lit the OWB so I can't say how it is different performance wise.
Yes! Finally broke down and bought a camera to replace the one with the broken viewfinder (or whatever it is called) Here is what the convection deck I built looks like on the eldorado! (along with the dust)
Nice. Looks too thick to be panning, what is it? Section of duct? Is that a seam where the s-cleat joins the halves? Great idea for a quick deck.
That was a couple smaller pieces of 26 ga metal that was laying around the shop. It is connected onto the back shield of the stove with a s-cleat (slip) and cut down the center, but overlapping, and connected there also with an s. I folded the s down at 90 degrees in the front as to make a leg for support in the center of the deck and also bent the sides of the deck down at 90's to make supports for the edge. It works well and can notice the difference.
