Barefoot's are all hardwood , it's been several years since I last burned them and that was only a few bags to try in my rookie season ,I know they put out the heat ,but I don't remember about the ash. I picked up 1/2 ton this year and I gave a couple of bags to Steve for testing so we'll see how they stack up.
so, if I am reading this right, all I need to look for is "all hardwood", and its a great pellet, right? This is why I come to this forum...all the good advice!
You come here to keep things lively because the other inmates have issues in that area. I like a well compressed softwood pellet. But have burned some dammed good hardwood pellets. Now get back to the Harman corner and come out swinging.
Not a big fan.. Maybe it's a regional thing. A few years ago we sold a few. Have not got a call for hardwoods in two years. Could be the firewood mentality that many converts have. Normal after that is all you have ever burned in a wood stove. Dan
Just looking for a shoulder pellet that can stand on it's own, or be blended w/ the LG Granules here for a few weeks / in the AM hours, until the cold weather sets in.
I'll be honest. I have burned only one, Maximums by LG. I'll take that back.. we got some during the shortage, I did not like those either, off hand, I do not remember the brand. did not like them compared to similarly priced softies, at all. I'm going mostly by sales requests. We just don't get any. Here, it is all Canadian softies.... YMMV. Dan
Barefoot's are more than a shoulder pellet IMO , but see if they work for you and your stove , as always your mileage may vary
We just started getting softies down here all we had is hardwood , We love that we now have options at competitive prices
I'm not getting this "shoulder" stuff, now. Our local BBS are getting around 260-280 a ton for their stuff. For the same money, or maybe 10 bucks more, you can get better stuff.. For example. Some people do not care for the stuff at Walmart. They are getting 282. Some brands at Lowe's, are 279-299. LG granules, here, are 279.. So my question is, why bother with using one for today, a mix for tomorrow, another for another day.. Why not just stick with your Granules? If you buy a ton of stuff for 270.. as a "shoulder", then what are you really gaining? You will still use less with the better stuff, regardless... Dan
You got to get a hold of some good hardwoods to try. I've never burned those Maximum's so I can't comment about those.
