Not at all............... Everybody wants to have a big "Boo Hoo" for these fools. The only reason they were going there was to exploit the Titanic, which, by the way, is a grave site that was declared off limits in 2019. As is coming out now, their submarine of choice was defective and of poor quality and design to begin with. Boils down to if you want to play silly games, you end up with silly prizes It's all fun & games until somebody gets poked in the eye with a sharp stick.

I agree! 100%. There is only 2 things that (Should) be at the bottom of the Ocean, sunken ships and fish! That's right up there with an old saying I once heard; There are more planes in the ocean then there are boats in the air!

One of the reasons (I) didn't volunteer for "Sub duty"! Pay is/was good but, just didn't sound like a good idea going under water for MONTHS at a time. At least on a ship, if it started to sink, I could jump off or have some chance of rescue. On a Sub, very very slim your coming back if you sink, and if you sink in anything deeper than about 1200 ft, your death will be very ugly when the hull Implodes. At lease it may be fast... Crush depth for (most) American Subs is about 1200 ft and the Safety margin is No deeper than about 800 ft. *NOTE* That's what the Navy will tell you. It may be deeper, but not much more...

Or crushed 12,000' below the surface of the sea.

And I agree, idiots. All of them. The designer / builder / owner elected to NOT have that thing certified by a third party to verify if it was safe to dive in and to what depths.

What do you suppose the last thing they heard was? A rivet head fly across the tiny cabin and go “PING”?

Nothing! I think it happened so fast, they didn't even know they were dead until God told them so....

That may sum it up! :picard:o_O I saw the remnants of bodies that had fallen from the World trades centers right after 9-11, yes I was sent there. :( It wasn't pleasant and not much left for the Imagination. I assuming it was worse and much faster. In an Implosion situation, I was told the body will almost self destruct due to the velocity of pressure on the body.

It shocks me a bit that some people have even brought up/mentioned the idea of "body recovery".....

Years ago I was at a pressure testing deal. They were testing both internal and external pressure on some tanks. Looking for max pressure capability of them so it was go until they gave up. The internal pressure wasn’t that impressive, usually just fount the weak spot and cracked. The external pressure gave very little deformity, only enough you could tell something was happening, and BOOM it became a pancake. These were probably 15 gallon sized tanks and not that great of pressure, several hundred pounds of air in a chamber. Can’t imagine what 12,000 feet deep would look like.

Agree, I can't Imagine what (might) be left of them... o_O That was so violent when it Imploded, My opinion again, they never even knew they were dead. I'm sure it ripped them to shreds. :(

I had to weld up pressure vessels for weld tests and testing of my stuff. One of my Navy tests were we made a 4" pipe, welded flat caps on each end, 1/4" material and one end with a threaded nipple on it. After we welded it up, it was send to the pressure cage and had 250Psi sent through it with steam. You knew soon enough if it was going to hold or not! I'm happy to say, Mine held through all my tests. Just having a vessel come apart at 250psi is very bad, I can't imagine 6000psi in compression...

Yes, sounds bad to say, but I'm sure they have fed many a sea creature by now.

Yup. This was a testing for self contained sprinkler systems. Local guy here came up with them and my cousin was welding the tanks up. They were going through whatever certification they needed to get approved to actually market them. The pressure test was filled with water and pressurized. When that blew a lot of water went a long ways out a seam that let go. They did a full size 500 gallon one I didn’t get to see. Guess that was impressive.

Foolish perhaps but not necessarily evil or deserving of such a death. Remember, five folks are dead and they all had fathers and mothers and maybe wives or husbands, sisters or brothers or children. Tragic news for relatives and friends to live with!
