    Raybonz, what kind of motor is it? Sounds like a Tecumseh. My old simplicity blower did the same things. I ended up rebuilding the carb on mine. Then it ran fine, no problems after that And I sold it a few weeks ago. I did buy a new ariens fall 2013 though.

    Spare bolt worked! If I could have seen through the red I could have fixed it in round 1.

    About an hour of shovelling between my house and my elderly neighbors plus 3 close to 4 of plowing/ blowing a total of 8! Driveways. Beer time. 3 gallons of diesel, real glad I bought more on Monday.

    Probably 2' here maybe more maybe less.

    Coming home tomorrow.. Best that way.. Think I am taking day off tomorrow.. Dunno what to do with the snowblower.. Good one not cheap..

    Yes Tecumseh.. Odd motor has 2 output shafts.. I am not much of a mechanic plus this thing is outside.. Not fun working in these conditions..

    Very common on older MTD machines. They drove the wheels off the camshaft rather than the crank.

    I'd make a bowl nut washer from something like a manilla file folder. It's ok if it drips a bit, won't affect how it runs. If you can get it slowed up to a slow drip, it'll throw snow.

    I wouldn't trash it if the carb turns out to be junk either. New carbs can be had for well under $100 for OEM, dirt cheap for aftermarket.

    Manilla folder is about right thickness. Thinking a piece of dirt clogged a jet maybe? Don't want to remove carb as it's around 10 degrees and breezy here. Have to lay down on snow to work on this. Might have some seafoam that I can add to gas.

    I'd agree with mech.... on many of these an entire new carb is not much more money than a rebuild kit and saves a lot of hassle. Worth saving if the rest of the machine is in good shape.

    Could be worse, I might have to disassemble the front end of mine and replace an entire auger blade due to my moment of stupidity with the shear pin.

    Just stopped snowing...30 couple hours, just finished cleaning up. I can measure 0 in some spots and 30 plus in others, it never got above 15f here so it's not too hard to move around.

    Update on the snowblower.. I did some reading this morning and found it is VERY IMPORTANT to get a good seal between the bowl and carburetor.. I went out at 7AM and took the bowl off for the umpteenth time and tried reinstalling the bowl gasket with no luck and still no start.. Dug through my parts box to discover I indeed did buy extra gaskets for the brass bolt that secures the bowl to the carb and went back out and removed the bowl yet again, cleaned all the teflon tape I used to seal the bolt and tried to reinstall yet again.. Bear in mind that it was 13 degrees and I am laying on the snow doing all this work.. Thankfully I bought ski pants for snowblowing and they make a world of difference.. Finally I decided to grease the rubber seal that seals the bowl to the carb and eureka it felt the gasket pop into place.. I held it steady and installed the brass bolt and no leaks!!! Snowblower started on 1st pull after priming the line!! Ran like a champ and I cleaned the 2' drifts that happened after my neighbor dug me out with the giant Cat loader.. After finishing up here and headed down the road to help my neighbors dig out.. I feel great about this as I am not a great mechanical guy! Of course I had to tell MasterMech about my accomplishments! :) Here are a few pics showing the snow here.. My wood stacks are 5' high to give an idea of scale..
