Okay here is the deal. I have not seen the stove, nor will I, more than likely. Asking for a pellet customer. He says the stove tech is booked until January. He is getting an open door error, and of course the stove will not start. He says the switch on the hopper seems to engage, and the door gasket seems good. The stove was new last season, and has really not been used that much. Thoughts? Dan
Check to make sure the ash pan door is closed - as in physically open and re-close it. Check the fines box cover is on tightly. Ensure the cover for the igniter chamber is closed. Other than that, I got nothing. I would nt expect door gaskets to go bad in 1 season. Looked at the manual and it looks like it has way too many electronics for me - could be the brains got scrambled - try unplug, wait a couple of minutes, then re plug in.
If none of the above helps next would be try jumping the vacuum switch. Also have they tried running the diagnostics on it.
Like I said, I have not seen the stove, and probly will not. It is a friend of Henry's, he will probly take a run over .. But I am thinking, where it is a pretty new stove, it is not a gasket issue, and I agree it is probly a vacuum issue. Would be good to get a new pressure switch to have one on hand, 20 bucks, as there are several of us locally (pellet customers) that have Harmans.. it is always good to be able to tell people what worked for us, on similar problems.. Thanks, Dan
Whenever I hear--"has really not been used that much." usually turns out to be a dirty stove or flue.
Have him uninstall it and trade it in for a good stove...Hmmm maybe a one year old Enviro would still function!!
so, the "open door" is actually the vac switch detecting inadequate vacuum......the 2 blink error in newer, analog Harmans, circuit board E revision and later. This can be ALOT of things, many mentioned above....gaskets, fines cover, blockages, vac hose loose, bad vac switch, even the spark arrestor outside clogged. The vac switch is RARELY the issue.....but they can fail.....in situations where folks think its the switch, 9*% of the time or so, its something else.
Just a follow up... It seems like the end of his exhaust pipe has a screen, and it was pretty clogged up.. Seems to be running fine now! I asked if he was certain that the path was clear... He checked... voila.. Dan.
not to be a nitpicker, but I did mention the spark arrestor: youd be shocked and amused at the look of dismay when you brush that devil off and the stove immediately starts running perfectly......."that'll be $189 please...."
