Quarter big rounds with ISO core then split to size with X 27. If average to small sized rounds do it all with X27. I can split for hours switching back and forth. Not sure how long I could split with ISO core only.
I have both the 25 and 27. I bought the 25 for use in my basement for kindling or knocking down larger splits if needed. I found the 25 to be a bit short for me, in only 5’10”, for regular splitting use outdoors. In my opinion, the 27 is better fit for a full swing in the woodpile outdoors. I rarely use the 27, as I have wood splitter and a processor. Although I do use it for the bonfire pit out back throughout the year.
Home Depot has them online, but I have never seen one in the stores around me, just the x25; same with Lowe’s I believe. I ordered mine on amazon a couple years ago. Basically the same price as HD, but I had it in 2 days with Prime shipping. I also bought my Isocore the same way this fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the X 25 never used an x 27, so I don't know about that, I like the x.25 okay. By the way both are exactly the same weight head, 4 pounds , the only difference is the length of the handle
Menards, Home Depot, Lowrs, Ace all have X27, or I should say Fiskars Splitting axe. (Not sure the difference). None of them have the ISO core, I had to order mine.
Walmart has a 36 but it is not the x series it has a different head cover and the handle is different. Homedepot has them on line but not available to order till spring.
I got my maul through them but only after trying an in store one. I had no experience with the x27 so I wanted to try before I bought.
Well I broke down and bought the new splitting axe it looks close enough to the x27 so it should work just fine will post later when I get home and warm her up.
