In theory I dislike it. In practice, I've been doing that for years. There are spots in NH, that my cell works off of Verizon (not my carrier), and if trying to call in those spots I have gotten messages that the number I called is invalid (even thought the number is local, and a known working number selecting from the phone's directory). Dialing all 10 numbers would let the call go thru. So, I have gotten into the practice of entering 10 digits into my phone's directory anyway. And the job I've had for the last 2.75 years, I'm as likely to be talking to someone out of state as to in state (maybe even more likely), so have just gotten used to entering/storing 10 digits.
We have us cellular and have had to dial 10 for years on every call. I keep everything programmed and just tell Siri to call whoever. She’s not the brightest and will at times call the wrong person or say they aren’t in my contacts. Try again and it works. I should probably stop calling her bad names and maybe she’d try harder.
When you guys are saying 10 numbers, is it like this 1 (234) 567-8910? If so, we have been like that here for years already...
Even for "long distance" calls? We've had the 10 digit thing here since...geez, I don't remember, the 90's maybe?
I think years ago calling out of state we needed the 1 but I haven’t had a land line in 15 years now. Cellular doesn’t require the 1.
Yup. Or it dials it automatically. Probably been 10 to 15 years since we've had a landline. At times I wish that was all we still had. If I didn't have a smart phone I wouldn't be on this forum as much! Sca
Still got land line; my wife wouldn’t have a cell for years only got one last year because virus you had to call to go in post office and bank
This. I haven't had a land line since 2013. Cell phone automatically inserts the "1" of course if you're trying to dial Canada or another country, you'll have to dial 11 numbers.
I use and abuse her when I’m on the road. Talk to test is a good feature but apparently her and I speak a different language most of the time.
I use Siri a lot. Don't like typing in, much easier just to say or ask what I want. i.e. closet store, what rout to take, call so and so. My wife and I swap off driving, that is when I use the Siri the most. I'll pull off to the side of the road if I am alone. Too much risk for me to pay attention to the phone while I pay attention to driving. Some others can do it, but not me.
I don't make phone calls when I am in a vehicle until I've parked somewhere. I very rarely receive personal phone calls or texts. But if it happens while I'm in a vehicle, I have controls on my steering wheel and on the touch screen to decline so I'm not distracted by a sales pitch for my vehicle coverage.
